Time for another advanced preview, this time for How to Make a Killing. A bit of Glen Powell being charming never hurt anyone did it… well actually… lets see shall we.
Now i left the write up of this intro a bit to late & im sorry about that, but i know it was pretty full to see this for the advanced preview. A few people turned up 10 mins into the films start though & i was like hang on, its almost 40mins after its “start time” how can you get it that wrong & be an unlimited member. Also due to my late intro write, i cant remember the trailers.
& then the film started… Well this was much better than the trailer made it out to be.
You know how me & uperty people dont get on, its not good. We are not made for each other, so to see a lot of self entitled uperty people get taken out is rather wonderful. Im not saying we should kill every Uperty person & honestly there were a couple where i was like hang on they didnt deserve that (although most we didnt know long) but still its nice to see it happen sometimes which is good.
I did want to punch a few characters still but mainly Margaret Qualley character. I know im not meant to like her in this at all but i really really didnt like her at all. The ultimate user. Clever but deceptive.
Every death had a different style to it. It wasnt just kill them all. Some were clever some were subtle & some were ridiculous. However it was funny that every time we went back to that crypt & everyone was still their mourning.
So i thought the trailer spoiled this film, turns out no it doesnt because its all up to a certain point & a recount. Its clever your then trying to work out how it happens & then the twist as to why he ended up like that was very interesting. This is why in murder movies even though you think you know whats going down always look for clues & motives, its clever. Everything is important. Remember things for the future.
Glen genuinely can charm his way into anyone in cinema cant he? Its rather good to watch & he owns that screen & he has a brilliant presence. But once again Glen was playing someone pretending to be someone else. Less dress up this time but still some to play the part. I didnt know that could be a niche to acting but here we are.
There were eventually some morals in the film & made you think what you would do in this situation. When is enough enough? Very clever. But honestly we all want more (cough if someone wants to buy me a new coffee table to display my lego id appreciate it cough). But it only got profound when the stakes were worth it.
Ed Harris is slowly becoming the man who appears for 10mins causes havoc in films & then isnt seen again. Its happening a lot at the moment.
I did laugh a lot. There were some really funny moments. I didnt think id be laughing that much but i was.
This film is much better than the trailer gives it credit for & i hope when it comes out it does very well. (erm it didnt because some weird little space film came out at a similar time {we will get to that}).
