Friday 4:30 lets do this, lets go see the Elvis Concert movie that Baz has spent forever restoring & see if its any good or not. I am not the biggest Elvis fan but it think im going to know enough to enjoy this.
I got stuck in loads & load & loads of traffic & it was bad weather so what should have been a comfortable 4:15 arrival meant i went straight to my seat & sat down as they were showing a trailer for the devil wears prada 2 & then it did the usual cineworld adverts before it started. Also when the film started it was like 4:45 so a short group of adverts, which is nice.
Also i think i lowered the average age. Most people were older than me there, which i was expecting but still i thought there would be a few more millennials.
& then the film stated… It was solid & everyone seemed to be having a good time.
You forget how many tunes Elvis had, cos damn they just kept coming & it was like oh okay keep going mate & it also was such a wide range. They really did work them to the bones didnt they. I mean i know they still do today but it was crazy that in such a short space of time he had so many songs.
I have a friend who took her mum to see this for her birthday & they both like or love elvis & had an amazing time & said it was spine tingling & my friend was like im glad i took mum to see that as thats as good as actually seeing him back in the day. So im very glad the massive elvis fans adore it & are getting so much out of it. Im glad you had the time of your life Wendy.
Elvis had so much charisma, even when it was just his voice talking over something it just worked & was so like yea id go work for you absolutely, ill support you.
Putting all the footage together & remastering the sound was brilliant. Baz earnt his money with this one & put on one hell of a show, be it press conferences, rehearsals, the actual shows, achieves, it just worked & blended so well.
The outfits as always stunning, but at one point did he have a diamond owl on his belt buckle? Im sure he did…
There was no one elses words in this, it was just elvis & it was his story & his say im glad it was that. However because of this we didnt really learn anything extra on top of this which was a shame. I’m not asking for drama this is a documentary concert movie. But i just wish there had been something that made me go oooh i didnt know that, at least once. A little bit more of younger elvis would have been good too.
I dare any of you to not put elvis on for your drive home after watching this.
It did at one point feel a little bit short, im not asking for 3hs of the eras tour but when it was ending i was like hang on were done already. Im sure the sound of it in imax would have been incredible but its would have been a lot of money for just over 90mins of movie.
I forgot how much people adored him like that. As an active fandom member of a few things, i get that we obsess, but some of this… it was a bit oh okay then.
Im glad ive seen this & i had a nice time & really enjoyed it but there will be a lot more people out there who watch this going oh my god this is our roman empire.
