Is it really still spoilers… Guess it is for kids

So for those who haven’t guessed already it Christmas… well it is in our house the tree is up, were half way through the advent cancel & Santa has been (seriously one drives down the road each year its properly amazing) So its time to bring out the Christmas films.

The Snowman always brings joy to my heart. It set in Ditchling which is about 10 miles away from here in the middle of The Downs, our national park. It also features the Devils Dyke, The Pavilion & The famous West Pier before it closed & was burnt down (i quiet like the skeleton of it now but dont say i said that to any traditional locals). So it literally set just a couple of miles away from where i live.

The story is about a little boy who wakes up to his first snow fall, and decided to build a snowman. That evening when he cant get to sleep he looks outside at his snowman who suddenly becomes real. He shows him where he lives & they go around the coutry side, before the Snowman takes the boy & makes them both fly to the north pole to meet Santa. They then return before morning, so the child can go to bed before his parents get up. In the morning, his snowman has melted, and the boy crys over his gift from Santa.

Yea i know cheery

So im going to start with the obvious plot hole with this… why are they flying South to get to the North Pole??? yea that my plot hole. Here in Brighton (i love this city) the piers are guess what in the sea, which is the south of the country so flying over them to get to the North pole is stupid. yes its nice to see our land marks but no wrong way, unless he has Santa GPS saying thats the quickest route, im not buying it. Sorry

The film was made in 1982, which is 7 years older than me yea i know can something be that old. It is starting to look a bit dated now when you watch it. I know thats part of the character of the film & that no one says a word and it all music, but even some of the drawing is looking a bit faded.

Walking in the air became a christmas classic song. im guessing you all know that the version in the film isnt actually Aled Jones? no well apparently the kid that sung it originally the following year when they went to remake it to release it, his voice had broken, so Aled got to do it. yea i know interesting.

Why did the stay at home mum not go & have a snowball fight with her sun  or help him build the snow man? im 26 & if somehow it does snow this winter, i expect both my parents and sister to have a snowball fight with me. Dad has even promised to build us an Olaf. anyhow she wasnt doing anything all day, infact what about his Dad he probably didnt go to work Ditchling is a pain to get out of in the best of weather. so he clearly wasnt being a good parent either.

There christmas tree is really small and its in a plant pot??? very weird is that what people did in the 80s? Also why did they leave there fire on over night? surely your just asking your house to be burnt down arent you?

The different fruit for noses is brilliant. The pear looks the best but the Pinapple is brilliant, its not quiet Jason Lee level but its pretty close (google Jason Lee footballer to see what i mean)

How did that snow man know how to ride a motorbike? i know you dont need a license to drive one  (like most people in my city) but come on thats a bit to careless isnt it, just telling a kid to hop on a bike with a random person is completely safe?? STRANGER DANGER !!!!!

The snowman was the exact replica to the one on the christmas cake. bit freaky right.

Penguins do not live on the North Pole, thats just wrong. And i know it was the 80s but the northern lights could have been drawn better, come on people it should have looked much better if even for the parents benefit.

If Santa gave the kid his scarf there & then what did he then get on christmas morning nothing??? bit off really

The snow man party looks more messy than one of my friday nights with the girls & that says alot. im sure they were smoking something when they did this scene.

Why did the snowman melt but none of the rest of the snow?

Its not often it takes longer to write a review than it does to watch the film but i think this has, fair enough iv been checking the football at the same time but its taken me 28mins to write & the film is 26mins

Its a proper christmas classic. and despite its flaws i will make my kids watch it even when they are little.
