We are now in emotional breakdown section of Pixar good help me. Yep WALL.E, UP & Toy Story 3. This will hurt. There might be gaps between the films, just to stop me from flooding my flat or i might just do them all back to back, lets see how emotionally stable i am for these. But yea lets go WALL.E.

I love how Act 1 of this film is all but a silent movie. Its so clever. I often say that so often movies can say so much with just a score or a well placed look & that is also said for animation as well. It just works so so well & its those quiet lonely moments that make everything just even more real & honest. I am not saying Act 2 & 3 are bad oh god no they are also magnificent but what this film does before it sends them to space, is saying an awful lot.

The way the little robots say their names are so cute. I in no way can type them out as cutely. They are adorable. I love it. WAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVA MO! see didnt work as well did it.

WALL.E being obsessed with human stuff making him the new Ariel is adorable. He really is a little hoarder collecting stuff to make his life so much more enriched. However, that makes it even more heart-breaking at the end when he gets reset to save him & he starts to do his usual programming & break all the things he cared about for so many years.

WALL.E Also just wants connection & love. He watches old Rom Coms, he giggles, he has emotion. & when he finds it, thats all he wants to hang onto. EVE may have a job shes programmed to do above all else, but even she eventually understands when he needs & inadvertently what any human needs. Connection, love & for someone to see & notice you. Imagine being that alone & left behind with no one. Forget the whole end of the world stuff, cos that gets far to deep for this part, but god it hurst seeing all he wants is to impress the Robot he cares for most in the world. It hurst the soul & always makes me cry at the relationship they eventually build & what they do for each other. He was proud of his little stem & leaf & he wanted to show it off to the one thing he cared about. It wonderful.

With the state of the world as it is now, i can see why we jumped ship & ran off but what a fucking shit state did we leave it in, like how dare we. Maybe some people in charge of the world should watch this. You know im recycling teabags into a different bin, but no a data centre can have my years supply of water in a week & thats okay. & also in this film, much like every other film set in the future, the AI is evil. How dare it, we should learn this from a kids film, not when its too late. Urgh we are a crap species arent we.

& then it gets even worse on that space ship seeing them not talk, & how bad & lazy everyone else, just like hang on whats all that about. I get the algorithm is meant to keep our attention but still, i hope it never gets bad. Thats why i have detox days from screen where i put my phone on airplane mode so it doesnt go off every minute for like 3 hours. I get stuff done. Its needed. As much as i love the little world i have built online, it needs muting sometimes.

EVE turning up being a destructive robot is actually such a throw out after that opening. But her Stand by mode is adorable & how her data keeps everything there for her to reflect on is amazing. Also how cute is the recharging using the mac noise for them. Love that. A113 still keeping it real all these years later.

Fred Willard appearing as a human in this as the ex president, i always go oh my god at. Its so clever. Also this came out just after Anchorman too.

Wait is Sigourney in two pixar films? Isnt she also her own voice over in Finding Dory? We will need to check that when we get there.

I love when the captain of the ship learns what it is to be human, its incredible that he learns about how wonderful life can be & what people can do despite its being hundreds of years late, proof that its never to late to look back at history. & then while he is doing that, life is happening outside of his window that he doesnt realise which is WALL.E & EVE dancing & floating in space being so sweet with a magnificent score. You cant not watch that scene & go awwwwwww at it.

Saving all the other robots was so so funny. This film from time to time remembers its meant to be for kids & families & not a deep social commentary. All the other robots are cute. MO is the best, but its all worth it for WALL.E to save EVE.

The fight to get back to earth is an interesting one where so much goes wrong & there are too many parts playing at the same time. It gets chaotic for a kids film for them to truly grasp why its good or bad for them to go back home, but as an adult you have to have that moral discussion in your mind for sure about what would you do.

The plant growing at the end after all the chaos proves we are not past saving. The hyper space jump back to earth is very dramatic but i get it. Pixar worked on all that technology they are going to use it in the film.

Theres a point where one of the freed humans from their screen looks at the stars in wonder, & i wish more people would just take a second from their days to do that from time to time. Look at the moon & partially at the sun & just be blessed by what we have got.

This was the first time as a teen moving into adulthood that i realised animated films are not just for kids. Its an art form to tell a story & yes most are done for kids with bright colours & stupid jokes, but sometimes the kid will then ask you a question & you then have to think about the answer due to what they have watched. Id rather they saw this than some of the stuff coming out.

This film shows that there really is beauty & hope in places where everything is lost. It is a triumph & should be held much higher up in Pixars rankings than some people say it is. Its wonderful & if your not saying at least once watching this film i feel sorry for you.
