Its Time!
The number 2 pick of 2026 which any other year would have been the number 1 pick, but no… Nolan going to Nolan.
It is time to watch the Mandalorian & Grogu in IMAX! Im so excited i might burst.
This film means so much to me. Tiny & Shiny helped me get through shiz in life. They are comfort & i know i am not going to be a very good film critic here & just praise it alot, so im so so sorry for probably being biased in advanced. Unless its a complete waste of time then ill be very honest about it. But these two gave me friends all over the world, i have met some of them. I want to meet a couple of others. They helped my anxiety & stress in the pandemic & became a calming & coping mechanism for me & to admit this out loud say a lot. They helped me find my own clan & to quote the show they mean more to me than you’ll ever know. & its just a nice little add on that the Tin man just happens to be Pedro Pascal.
Anyhow lets go do this.

i booked my IMAX viewing for 4pm. We finish work early on a friday so with some extra hours i had worked i left early to make sure i got there in plenty of time.
I had several people ask me where i got my top from & also about my bag. The top shows Din just before he removes his helmet to grogu & the bag is a mandalorian bag. I also saw a woman as i left who had a Rocky & Grogu top on who i then asked where she got hers from & she shouted back etsy. I need to investigate.

I am a person who like to sit near the back ish for imax to get the whole screen & see people in eye line so im not sure how many people were in my screening but it was definitely half full. Also i do love the forge for the IMAX count down that was bloody cool.

Trailers, Is it sad that i know the click before the Odyssey trailer starts is for that? im sorry if that makes me a geek & a nerd but i was like ahhhhhh.
We also had disclosure day, the hunger games, super girl, toy story & a film with anne hathaway & ewan mcgregor in which looked weird but im down for it.

& then the film started… It was exactly what i wanted it to be.

Hearing that score with all those speakers everywhere… it once again just goes to prove why IMAX isnt just for the size & the quality, it shows its for everything. The way that score shakes your bones, incredible. The people a few seats away at one point went wooo. It really makes sure you are so immersed into the film. It becomes more than a film. It truly does become cinema & art when you see something in IMAX. Also to see x wings on an imax screen… i had a moment.

I cried… i kind of knew i would but part of me was like no we can be okay at this but there is this moment & then another & then another & its just rather beautiful & what it means to my soul just was everything. It really touched me. There was another moment when i welled up as well before that.

I really wish they hadnt had the face reveal in the trailer. I know why. They have Pedro Pascal as the mandalorian, they want you as a Pedro fan to go & watch it. That being said when it was revealed later in the film, i had kind of forgotten it was going to happen until about a minute before & i was like oh god its going to happen & it was needed for the story telling. When i see it again i will time how long we see his face. But can i just say from a reviewer who is also a pedro girlie, i didnt need to see his face, his voice acting was that good & you can tell when its him in the suit & not the other two, even though they are both good & do get a good billing on the movie as well.

The Anzellans are the cutest little sidekicks to turn up in this film. They really are a proper little posy & they are never going to truly forgive grogu for the squeezy.

Grogu has the biggest arch in this, his character grows so much. I also like that the score is so much softer for him & he gets to go off & have his own little adventure this time & is brave & has learnt alot. Who knew that 2026 would be the year of the puppets?

Eww snakes, not for me.

Filoni turning up wearing that bloody hat took me out of it. Im not going to lie, especially in that setting. Like Martin & Jeremey didnt but all he had to do was not wear that hat & it would have been okay.

Sigourney was good in it, i can see why they brought her in, but i was expecting a few other cameos from people in the show even if it was Din calling for help or to find something out or be dropped off. I did miss Amy & Carl (bless him).

All of the action pieces were good & were well positioned through the film, at no point did the pacing feel off, it flowed & lead you onto the next bit & then when there were moments of quiet & peace they were needed.

This was basically like 4 or 5 episode of the tv show all put into one. This was never meant to be a big reveal or scary or bring more drama to the world. This is the story of the mandalorian training grogu & the adventure they go on before we get to the sequels. I dont know why people were expecting something deep. However there was a call back when something was hidden at one point, like din was in the tv show which really made me gulp that he was like thats safety for them.

& i am now going to stop typing & i am going to go book up a rewatch. It was what i wanted to watch. It was my comfort duo brining happiness & hope into my life, thats what i wanted back in 2020 & its what i need in 2026 as well.
