This is the final of 3 films at the cinema in 48 hours. Hoppers Done, Peaky Blinders done. Now for the Bride. a 3pm showing which means it will have finished just before the time Hoppers started on the friday night which means i will have completed it. All sounding very promising.
I am not going to be honest, i thought i had written an intro with the trailers & how many people were at my screening for this so can you imagine my shock opening this today not seeing that here & it being little while ago. So yea im sorry your not getting the normal shiz. Im usually so good at makign sure this is done. My apologise.
& then the film started… Okay maybe Frankenstein could be my problem.
Its not often a film goes to the movies more than me but i have done 3 films in 48 hours & this film went to the movies more times than that. I mean i do kind of get it but it was just a little bit weird at times. A film loving movies is good but there loving them & then there was whatever this was.
I have a lot of unanswered questions from this movie, where plot moved on far to quickly or some of the science just wasnt explained at all let alone poorly & the lore behind the bride just felt weird. Like the possession of her originally, that was so out of the blue & then for the majority of the film its hardly mentioned & when it is it feels more like its there as filler & not an actual plot devise.
Jessie is as always phenomenal, but she needs to be grateful that its a slam dunk shes going to win the oscar (which she did) because well lets just say that the rest of the film was such a mess that if voting hadnt already ended this would effect her chances of glory a little bit.
Theres another Sarsgaard?! Im losing count now. Im sure i have come across this one before, hes either the brother or the eldest as he looks most like Stallen. I am wondering why we didnt meet the two detective so late into it, & then the reveal later on which was spoon fed to us before it was so meh, im sure everyone has worked it out.
Did Maggie just want to make sure Jake was in this one, but had limited time for him so put him in minimal add ons & one main scene? The trailer for this made it look like he was going to have a much more important part to play in this scene.
Consent is always consent peoples. No matter how they try & dress it up & change it or make it acceptable in any way. If someone says no, they mean fucking no & ive had enough telling movies about this. Its getting on my tits.
The pacing was tragically slow. Im all up for a slow build but not like that. I looked at my watch at one point & was freaked out we were only 40 minutes in. I was like but what else do we have to do in this film. It just crawled & never had any urgency even at the end or with any of the chases.
We do put some uperty people in their place in this film but not enough of them & then after that happens its just like oh okay then &they continue with their lives afterwards.
If your going to chose this a film to include a sudden uprising & revolution & do something for change, make it more powerful than that. It was almost like most of this part was left on the editing floor for the film. It felt half hearted. It needed to be championed & celebrated but it just wasnt.
This film had so much potential to in with the story & actors & the way it was being advertised, but at no point did it grab be & full engage me in the film. The performances were all okay, it just lacked any well real life & desire.
Yea i will not be rewatching this in a hurray, & i am beginning to think that Frankenstein films are just not for me. This is now the second one ive just found a bit average.
