This was secret cinema last week, i didnt go as all the other people advertising secret cinema had it as a horror film & there are a few of these coming out in the next couple of weeks & i didnt want it to be something i wasnt prepared for. Apparently a few people walked out of this too when it wasnt just a standard screening. No idea how cineworld got it wrong, but im going to find out tonight as i go to see Send Help.
My screen was half full for the 7pm showing which was pretty good. there was a group of teens im not sure were over the age limit but it was mainly millennials. Are we the only ones going to the cinema at the moment.
Trailers, scream 7 (nope) Cold Storage (maybe) The bride (yes) & then one today with something whistling but it was odd the trailer had a warning saying it could cause seizures. Im sorry no trailer should be allowed to do that boo to them.
& then the film started… there were horror elements but it wasnt overly scary.
Well in terms of CGI bores in the last 12 months the one in this film beat the one the one in the strangers chapter 2, however that wasnt much to go up against if im honest. It was not the best pig. It still provided one of the biggest ewwws from my screening when all that blood went everywhere. So maybe hollywood stop using pigs to attack people please.
I didnt really get the whole seduction thing that tried to force at points & romance to it. I get that if your left on a desert island you will try anything, but both of them whenever they put that on you could tell it was forced. It didnt fit the dynamic at all.
Uperty people die! & most of them are early one! Lets cheer… cos some of them (no let not lie they all) deserved it. Although there was one call back later on to a scene in the films opening when it was like yes put them in their place.
There were a few jump scares ( i think i did go ohh shit at one of them) but the horror was well paced throughout. However there were some bits that we all laughed at which we were all like oh okay then really the films gone there then, fine.
Now if you have seen the triangle of sadness the ending of this isnt surprising, if you havent then you will be like oooh, but year an oscar nominated film wants its twist back please. & not the obvious one where suddenly the least important person suddenly has useful skills. Also never mock someone for their passion & enjoyment, one day you might need that skill to save you.
I had no idea that the tv show survivor was still a big thing or even going in america but apparently it is & when i got home & googled it , its like watched like we do the traitors, crazy, who would have thought.
There was a really bad CGI cliff & rockery mountain part in this film that they created, which looked very bad. It was a lit of a let down, basically dont give horror movies a green screen please.
Despite the forced seduction story line both Rachel & Dylan were really good in their roles & were emotional & full on when they needed to be. You watched & believed them for most of the time (except when fliting) but they did bring good performances out of each other.
Even when looking death in the face as humans we can still make booze out of anything hehe, good on us.
I love the girl power vibe to a lot of it & telling your toxic boss where to stick it. I love that, wish i could do that to one of my ex bosses from a long time ago.
Oh no not golf club references, still not over Joel Miller (sorry if i just spoiled that but the game has been out for ever & season 2 has been out for a year).
I was surprised as to how good this was, it was the right amount of horror for me & it made me jump & it also empowered those who often lack it. This is a good film & i can see myself later in the year saying to people Send help now thats worth a watch.
