As a teenager we all watched some episodes of Jackass late at night when we thought our parents werent watching, we all wondered if we could get away with some of that stuff & we all laughed hard at it all. We all watched at least 2 of the movies & remember our favourite things. So lets see how it hols up in 2026. Im hoping i laugh loudly at least once.
Screen 6 tonight was half full which was pretty good. It was mainly millennial & gen x males if im honest, but thats the target audience really. also 6:10 is an odd time for a film to start.
Trailers, the odyssey (were so close nolan) the digger trailer that isnt, the invite, a new brad pitt survival film & a new jason stathom film which is for a movie not coming out in january what the hell is all that about.
& then the film started… still fun but im not a teenager anymore.
Why is it that its the simple most stupid stunts that are the most funny? Seriously, those were the ones that had me giggling the most. They were the ones that also made the room just lighten up. No offence to some of those bigger stunts but i just like the little ones. Like that escape room from hell i was expecting so much more but just no, it was a way of just doing more crazy shiz. There was minimal stuff to help you escape if that makes sense.
If im honest i was amazed at how much stuff Johnny Knoxville still did to himself. You know hes still a comedian & well paid actor & yet he is still willing to get gored by a bull & end up in hospital. I know for most of it he is setting it up & hosting but he still gets a few things done to him, He doesnt have to do that, but i guess if its a chance to hang one last time of course hes going to do it.
This is basically what happens when you give a load of men in their 50s millions of dollars & tell them to do their teenage dream but its just being prats all the time & you know what with the poo gags & the nakedness & the grimness of it all yea that was what they did back then & what they want to do now for one last time. Its just that someone filmed it.
There were a few things that did actually make me want to gag or retch watching it which are not my thing at all. Just grim on so many levels. There were also a few incidents & stunts when they took things a little bit to far, be it in the past or the now, where i was just like no nope no way did this happen or would they be able to get away with this. It was pushing the jokes way to far.
The mix of the flash back & talking about the past & then linking it to the now was very clever. Yes it repeated stuff but they explained why it was their favourite & how they arent all teenagers or in their 20s anymore & how they would do it today which would then lead into the next stunt. I mean the fact the finale in them in the shopping trolly like the first film is brilliant. Iconic. They also showed somethings MTV back in the day couldnt let them show & if im honest i agree with MTV.
The start being Virtual Insanity styled intro was very clever, it leads in the messiness of it all. Also proper millennial throwback.
Obviously there is no plot with these films but we did just keep leaping from joke to joke from stunt to stunt so it flew by.
I was never a hardcore jackass fan but id often watch an episode here & there. I am glad the room was laughing & i did a laugh as well, but i am not a teenager anymore myself, so i have outgrown most of it. But im sure for the devotes this was the perfect send off for it.
