& the honour of the film for popcorn for one day goes to Allelujah. An indi british film about hospitals & care homes which looks very sweet & funny. An epic supporting cast so i have high hope for this to be very sweet & just awwww.
the 5:20 showing for a while i thought was going to be just me but it wasnt woohoo thank god for that. I mean everyone that did show up was older than me. There was one other group of millennials, but both were the top end of it.
Trailers Air (yes if its Affleck Directed), Oppenheimer (yes which i can now tell by the tone) Missing (still freaks me out that ive seen this) & book club 2(probably not the 1st was bad enough).
& then the film started… Well that was not the film that was advertised for Act 3 oh no no no & it made it all the better….
It was sweet & emotional & just plodding along like all these little indi films do & i was just sitting there watching it being like yea this is nice this is sweet. It shows so much of this & that & it made me well up a little & feel for the patience’s, staff & families & then about 10mins into Act 3 BANG! & i mean literally the film turned on itself & then it went for it & it showed everything that is wrong it really really did & it didnt hold back.
& then it did the unthinkable. It moaned at the fucking government with one of the character & i was like no oh god they are really doing this & by god they did & they did not hold back & i was sitting there going yes fucking moan, fucking moan. Hand it to them on a plate, show them that they are evil fuckers who just dont actually care for the rest of us at all. Urghhhhhh I FUCKING LOVED THE END OF ACT 3 SO MUCH! I should not have, because it broke my heart but i was so happy that it went for it 100% no holding back. The film swung & hit & smashed all the windows it could. & its a huge shame that the people that message is aimed at wont see this film.
Yea it basically became a completely different film in the last 15mins & i loved it had the guts to do it. & as the words I HAVE CARED were said by a certain character, i was so angry. Thats what good acting & film making does to you people it really does.
Every member of the cast were fantastic. I was a bit like why is Dench in this film but damn she was important. & then there was Russell Tovey who has his epiphany & his relationship with his dad ahhhhhhhh. & the other patients & the staff. I mean Saunders will get a lot of credit & probably a bafta nod next year but it was just so right & perfect. It felt like we were in that hospital.
All the funding ways to save the hospital are so what would happen too. I so get that. Its funny to watch on a film but it is actually what really really does happen, that you do just walk past.
Lots of Chinese food in this film & takeaways, i was so hungry when i got home.
& i cant really say to much about this film without spoiling it for you other than what i had said. If it had continued with the same way of act 1 & 2 for 3 id be able to tell you a lot more. But i cant because act 3 just went for it & it made me gasp.
Please watch this film & then go support you nurses & doctors that are on strike because they bloody need your help & they need a fucking pay rise.
Yea that was 100% a film fitting for Popcorn for one day
