Well it’s been a little while but secret cinema is back at the odeon. Mainly because after the Florida Project viewing I was really disillusioned by it, then you have the fact that it’s not always shown in Brighton & also the fact that we haven’t actually had one since May. One issue with it now though, it’s gone up in price for people who just buy the ticket & aren’t limitless. Yea from £5 to £9.45 no idea why.

I’d say screen 6 was two thirds full which is pretty good & when the film was revealed 6 people left, that was it. I’d say mid 20s to 70s in age proper mix of age. Also lots of people brought premier seats which is a bit odd.

trailers we had 21 bridges, Queen & slim, 1917, David Copperfield & the brand new Star Wars one whoop. I’m up for all of them peoples.

& then the count down went 3 2 1 & revealed the film… Le Mans 66 & with that 6 people got up & left. Idiots. They missed out on a classic.

Dont ask me how quickly i drove home after that film. I havent driven like that since i saw Baby Driver. Thank god there were no unmarked police cars at the tunnel exit. What an adrenaline rush & what speed & how it was shot was just full on edge of your seat stuff. Like i love F1 (okay yea this isnt F1 but i do watch a bit of Le Mans every year) but ive seen some really dire boring races this year which couldnt even hold a candle to the suspense here. It was wow. If you love car racing or are a petrol head you will adore this film, i think even the values to the story will make those being dragged along by partners or friends enjoy it.

It is 2h30mins people thats my warning you will be there for a very long time, however at no point did it feel like we were dragging it out. It needed to be that long to get the feel for the story, so much so that when it finished i was like oh really & then looked at my watch going oh wow we are actually done. Its a big commitment if your not 100% sold on it.

Bale & Damon bounce off each other sooooooooooo well. Its so synced & the admiration & the banta & the trust or lack of it. It needs to be appreciated. I unfortunately dont think either will get nominations. If they could get it as a pair that would be good but it wont happen. It doesnt work without the other.

There were some bits that were quiet moving, i didnt cry but i was welling up & could feel the lump in the back of my throat. It really felt like the film was made out of love, & was authentic. It had soul & was made for all the right reasons.

The visuals of the film were so symbolic & lovely & the way the film was all edited together to give you that racing feel just felt like real rush. From the quiet beauty of it all to the mad rush of life.

I wanted to punch a lot of the people who worked for ford, & when i got back to my car Tom (Ford) i was actually a little bit disgusted to see him after that film, but then i realised that Tom has come from the wreckage of all of that & hes his own man & can go from 0-60 in 15 seconds (shhhhhhhh you didnt hear that from me).

Its in the trailer but the fight between Bale & Damon yesssssssssssssss live for that. & the fact she just sits there & watches.

So all you mortals get to see this on the 15th. I thoroughly recommend you go, make sure you get a taxi home, but you will love every single second of it. Hopefully i will be saying this films name with the words oscars near it, but with so much more stuff thats hyped still to come… It will be a shame if it misses out.
