Iv Umed & ahr about blogging about this on here. This is after all my film blog. But I have done a few more personal things on here over the years so fuck it. I spend more on this per year than films so I think it needs this platform. So if you were after a film review apologies I’m sure you will get over it. Maybe this could be made into a film you know.
Lets go back to about a year ago… Brighton & Hove Albion lost out very unluckily yet again in the play offs & would have to spend the 2016-2017 season yet again in the championship. My 5th season ticket holder… & im not sure how many for Mama. Too many some would say but as we all say not enough. The Club put a message on the day after defeat to say Day one had started of next season.
So i though im new to instagram lets try & document all of the football i go to this year, so then i have a nice record of it to look back on… oh what a year for doing this oh man oh man.
For people who dont know about football the Championship is often voted the most challenging football league in the world. Its a nightmare to get into or out of. It has teams who have been in the champions league & teams that are only 20 odd years old & on any teams day they can beat any one of the remaining 23 oppositions. To watch go & support you championship team is one hell of a roller coaster of ups & down but thats why its such an amazing league & actually deserves a lot more credit than it gets. & its not even the top tear of English football, if you get out of this then your on your way to the prem, and the promise land.
So heres my instagram story of the season if it works, lets see if these links happen.
Game Seven Wolverhampton Wonderers
Game Twelve Queens Park Rangers
Game…. Hang on second its done what now
Game Thirteen Sheffield Wednesday
Game Eighteen Newcastle United
Game Twenty Part One Blackburn Rovers
Game Twenty One Birmingham City
Game Twenty Two Wigan Athletic (THE DAY OF DAYS)
Game Twenty Three Bristol City
When i got my season ticket all 5 years ago probably to the day actually, i didnt ever actually believe it could be done. I was kind of going as it was the only way i could watch football every week & could afford it. Its right to support you local team in any way you can. Now im sitting here desperately waiting for next years fixtures to come out so then i can plan the rest of my life, im not missing Liverpool or Man City at the Amex next season for an afternoon tea, nah anyone wanting to do that on a Saturday can jog on.
If you had offered me this season at the start of the year to come second to newcastle & only have three home defeats i would have bitten your hand off at the start of the season, its been an amazing year & im glad that mama & i had such a fantastic journey to get to the promise land. Here’s hoping this dream lasts a little while & next season i can write & tell you all about how the mighty seagulls stayed up in the premier league.
Thanks to Chris, Paul, Paul & Tony for being the best management & owners of a club ever. To the rest of the upper east south for being fabulous. To Graham our steward Legend. The Seagull that flys into the ground at 3:10 each game. To Gully best mascot ever. To Glen Murray family in the box opposite where we sit for being brilliant entertainment when he scores. TO my parents for getting me into football when i was little (especially Mama who i go with every week its her boys after all) & to those men who wear Blue & White & play with the crest on their shirt, especially Dale Stephens (thanks for staying) David Stockdale (who makes me scream when he mucks it up & then i forgive him) & Anthony Knockaert (for being selfish but stealing the show each week).THANKYOU ALL SO MUCH FOR AN AMAZING SEASON!!!
Footnote, cheers to Lincoln & the Cowley brothers for a fantastic season there too, That was one hell of a ride as well.
Thanks for putting up with this review people, back to the films now.
