Kachow. The Pixar Marathon continues & there might now be a sudden influx of them all as DVDs as i tend to own a lot of the late 00s pixar films. I guess my sister went to see them & then i saw them on tv & then when they left i got the DVD in the disney by 2 get 1 free deal (loved it when they used to do that) so lets see if lightning mcqueen still owns it.

I dont remember it being this bloody long, its almost 2 hours which considering its a bit of a meh film is just like oh okay then. I am one of the people who champion that animation shouldnt just be for kids film & that there is so much more to it than that, but considering when i saw this in my teens & i was like well okay thats a little bit fun &now rewatching it as an adult im like well… it says a lot doesnt it. Its not aged well & its not capturing my imagination in a different way as an adult.

Questions does everyone have jeremy clarkson as his agent in this film or is it just a uk voice over, cos it is even as an adult one of my fave parts of the film. Hes only in a couple of sections being arrogant & demanding but its very clever & to this day still makes sense that its him for the movie. So please tell me rest of the world did you have clarkson or did you have someone else.

Also this film came out in 2006 right, the next year in f1 almost the exact same story happened ish in real life with lewis hamilton so well done for trying to predict disney. Guess which has also aged best…

Owen Wilson gets to say WOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWW a lot in this film as lightning mcqueen, he really does, either happily or sarcastically. Its used a lot. Hes actually a very good voice actor, as an adult i think you appreciate that a lot more than you do as a kid. You realise what goes into it much more to make it sound good. My favourite bit is when hes doing the turn right to go left bit. he nails that.

As a kid i never liked Mater, so as an adult apart for like 4 jokes he has, hes just really irritating & its like mate, even younger people arent bothered by you. I get they had to give him a fake bestie but its just like oh its too much at points. Tone it down please. I get the story needs it just not like that.

Sally… did she groom lightning? like shes been living the high life then had a mid life crisis, but then has been in that town for donkeys before lightning & hes like the youngest car of all, so is she just a cougar or grooming him.

What i dont get it lightning has a mouth & a tongue but we never see him eat food or anything, he gets fuel the same as everyone else for his energy but also its just weird that he has that a weird design choice.

The races are actually all good, & the way its styles & done be it in the stadium or on that dust track shows that its not what you go its how you use it. The dirt track is clever to teach valuable lessons to everyone throughout the film & whats going on & how you learn from you mistakes. But the actual showing off of those stadiums showing all the cars watching is so so clever.

Doc is a brilliant character, but to redeem him so quickly after calling the worlds media on lightning felt very shallow & half hearted. Like i get that he wanted to stay in his own little place & couldnt deal with lightning however for him to then go & do the complete opposite & be his crew within like 3 minutes is crazy. Also how did no one else notice him at all until that point or even get in. Its a one off global sporting event & no one before that moment had notices him & a load of other cars knocking about at all.

The pit stop guys, they are my fave side characters & them doing the pit stop that quickly, im surprised aston martin havent been on the phone. The whole white tyre stuff is also cool, but then the fact the schumacher turns up for them at the end & they fan girl & pass out is incredible.

Lightning isnt even that god of a role model for kids. He spends the whole film moaning & then still abandons them & jokes about mater behind his back. Yea do not inspire to be him kids. Although Hicks is horrendous & a bastard for doing that at the end. Thats the one lightning moment thats redeemable, everything else was selfish but him pushing the guy over the line was good. But if he hadnt looked up he wouldnt have known. Keaton is incredible as Hicks though.

That road was repaired very quickly, like we only see him work on it for like 3 days in total out of that week he was there captive, we hardly see him on it after the first 2 initial times. ITs then painted quickly & they are all using it.

What is it with men & asking for directions…

The cozy cone was actually a little bit meh. I get the irony but there was no turning space in it at all. inface all the sleeping places were weird for them. It was like good concept meh execution to it.

The drive for the sake of the drive is nice i guess thats like me going on a beach walk but its not until they stop that they reall ytalk to each other if im honest. Also apart from the waterfall it wasnt as majestic as it could have been animated.

So Doc didnt want the town to be taken over by tourists & yes its bad they built the high way for people to drive through (nice song james taylor) however, at the end of the film they actively all cash in on it. So again no lessons being learnt again.

His nightmares or day dreams about winning the cup were very fun to watch.

It just lacked some of the spark of the other disney pixar animations. I guess it sells a lot of merch hence weve had so many of them but its just never been my cuppa tea which is surprising as i am an f1 girl. Its a shame really. I get why some kids like it but its never anything that makes me go oh cars, its a must watch.
