Spoilers

Today May 23rd 2017 the legend that was Sir Roger Moore died aged 89 of cancer, a truely sad day made even sadder by this news. So it’s time to watch a View to a Kill. His best performance as Bond but not the best Bond film he is in that would be The Man with the Golden Gun.

First of all lets get the elephant in the room out of the way… its filmed at Amberley Chalk Pits!

I shit you not its film there literally i visited there as a child & had no idea of its significance to my life just a decade or so later. Its literally a 20minute drive from my house, its the other side of the downs. & James Bond filmed there & said it was San Francisco. I know im sure when i was 4 my parents probably did mention it to me but i was probably more interested in the swing or witches broom to care about it. Now when ever i see it i yell at my parents why didnt you take a picture of me aged 4 by the entrance. GAHHHHHH!!!!! its so cool.

Any how sorry lets go & review this properly & give Roger his send off shall we.

As I said at the top this is his best performance as Bond it really is his looks to the camera the seriousness the cheekyness & stupidity & the style & yea he rocked it.

That being said Christopher Walkens baddy is fucking top draw like I really want him to win I really do you know he’s evil you just don’t quite know how evil & then when you think your there bang next level. Like when I first watched it at no point did I think he was going to set fire to that office with his friends in & then blowing up & flooding the mine oh man that was the next level even above that. Brilliant villain.

Grace Jones was epic too an evil Bond girl we hadn’t had too many pure evil ones up to this point there had always been good in them a little but right up until her last wave she was evil. I say that as even when she does to save the world she still does it to stab someone in the back & say fuck you too them as they pissed her off. He act of heroism is still from a bad place.

The opening ski scene is iconic it really is. Just for the complete different shapes between the stunt man & Moore & the bad cgi bits in the snow & the clearly split parts from one take to another. Still bloody good though & I always enjoy watching it.

That being said that Paris chase it brilliant. Absolutely stunning for all of the right reasons too. You watch it & you want to do it brilliant.

Then there’s the bridge jump fire engine chase which is cool, serves the authorities right for not believing Bond it’s just so cool especially as it’s right after that office fire, which for when it was made was pretty good. If I’d been alive when it first came out & gone to the cinema to see it I would have been in ore.

Don’t care for the horse bit at all not my cuppa tea it’s still integral to the plot but I don’t do animals so looking at all those horses does nothing for me.

Then we have the house attempted murder scene which is okay, but because of this scene so many action films now do this & have taken them to the next level as they all want to be Bond.

The Golden Gate Bridge fight is a brilliant closing out scene too Bond is in real trouble & may meet his maker here. & I still think to this day when I watch it that it might be it.

This Bond film also has the greatest Bond theme of all time by Durran Durran. I still think that to this day in fact every-time I’ve edited or typed this review iv been singing it in my head. It’s so cool.

Bond has grown up since this point but this was a good way to start him on his next venture. It’s a classic & should be watched by everyone as a great old Bond film.

God bless you Sir Roger you did us all proud (although your best work is still Spice World The Movie {obviously Jokeing })
