Opening night, a day before the rest of the world, to watch Thor… yes please. I need this for my reward from today. I really really do. Bring on the madness of Taika. I am ready to get lost in the crazy rainbow.
First of all for the first time since April, the hot guy was at Cineworld. He works there, & he was checking tickets. But as i hadnt seen him for ages i had left my bit of paper with my phone number on at home & also didnt get long to smile chat & flirt with him but yay hes still there. Next time maybe…
It was sold out except for the 2 seats next to me… i know what did i do… maybe they got caught in traffic. Mainly millennials like me. Id say my age early 30s was the average age. No cosplayers like for doctor strange either.
Trailers Avatar (meh) Bullet Train (yes) Black Adam ( hadnt seen that yet on the big screen yes) & ticket to paradise where Danny & Tess Oceans little girl who was in booksmart is getting married (looks predictable but also cant wait to see it)
& then the film started… Well its not Ragnarok, but not many films are… but oooooooh my did they go for it & make the most out there film in every respect.
I trust, adore & love Taika Waititi… If you dont already know that frankly im amazed that youve got this far & havent realised it, but its true i love that man. How he managed to convince Disney & Marvel to make a film which is basically about his divorce, the worlds power struggle & about grief & then package that up into the MCU is amazing, but he bloody well did. & it worked. I was sitting there at the half way point of the film going omg this is all about his actual life from the last few years ahhhhhhhhhh. IT worked it so worked. Maybe thats why some people dont get it?
Not everyone in my screening got that the Rock was called Dwayne… I laughed a lot at that, quite a lot.
Hemsworth is just so cool as Thor in every respect. Every emotion & feeling & style & the comic timing & the loss & the action… ooooh i really dont think anyone can take on that mantel ever, hes got to do it forever & ever. Hes just the best.
Natalie Portman other than just run around & be a scientist actually finally gets a good Jane Foster to play with & she is good. I mean she is still the weakest part of the film (im sorry i dont think shes a good actress even in Black Swan), but here with the hammer is bloody cool. Also she got snapped?! At least they didnt do the dirty on her like Wanda tho.
Christian Bale (i mean die a hero or become the villain memes aside) is sooooo chilling as Gor the god butcherer. Whenever he turns up or your worried about someone you genuinely do feel like this is the moment someone is going to die, its going to all fall apart. But then his motives (which i did work out quite early on) were pure & i do understand it.
Maybe they should have kept Crowe more of a secret that he was in the film. Would have got a strong reaction i think from the audience, but we all knew he was appearing at some point… Thors arse did get a cheer & that tattoo did get a loud laugh from all.
The Guardians were good, for there minimal appearance, but it does make you then think where are they going on there space venture next.
The Theatre Guys….. i am so glad they survived (& Darryl thats a niche one) but when Matt Damon is in those normal clothes with his glasses on i was like oooooooh hello sir you look rather fine thank you for that. I did swoon &then laugh a lot at that bit.
The Goats, the bloody Goats, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats all that needs to be said.
Was the opening first God we meet played by who i think it was…. if so ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh again, thats a very niche reference, along with a name in the credits someone on line pointed out. Like thats all for us Taika Loyalist if that is all correct. Brilliant. Im sure i missed some other Taika references in there, theres got to be more than just those two.
I love the music & the score & the vibrancy of it all & then how it then just turns black & white when they get somewhere to proves this is serious now weve got to deal with this the fun needs to stop for a bit while we deal with stuff. That was very nice indeed.
I love that most of the kids in the film are related to cast & crew, thats amazing. Taika’s kids especially noticeable after all the dads on tour videos.
Youve got a mid & an end credit scene people, both are very very important. Please stay. We all yelled at someone for leaving before the first but they went to the toilet & came back just as it was starting. good on them.
Its bloody good fun, it really really is. & if you cant find the fun in this i feel very sorry for you. I bloody loved it & had a blast & cant wait to re watch it not just for the Thor extravaganza, but to get all the Taika references….
So now we can hit a golden buzzer as the number 1 pick (i know it was technically 2 darn you mission impossible 7 for being delayed) has been watched… lets wait & see what it will be….
