I love me a friday straight after work cinema trip, its very nice. Its been a while actually (i say that a fortnight) but its still nice to finish work on a friday early & be at the cinema watching a film & then be home before 8pm. & today is the turn of the Sheep Detectives, which i didnt realise until a couple of days ago is a Craig Mazin story, so fingers crossed its good & emotional.

5pm on a friday, meant there were a mix of family groups straight from school & a few adults as well. It is a PG so it is for everyone this film.

Trailers, minions (maybe) some weird dog in a film i dont know what it was called, Tom & Jerry & Toy Story 5 (petition cineworld to do an adults only screening please). Also i love that kids films at the moment have minimal adverts that twice now in recent months.

& then the film started… i didnt cry… i know what the hell..

Literally the world has told me that i will cry watching this & there i was sat in my screening, feeling emotional but not crying or welling up. I get if you take your younger family with you or you have recently had some trauma this is going to hit like a freight train but no i didnt cry. Im so so sorry.

Hugh Jackman, if you want to read my a bed time story i am down for that. I really am. Those sheep are very lucky. Maybe its time to get on cbbies bed time stories mate. Wed all appreciate it. (yes i am aware as im posting it after the even that Pedro has done a bed time story peoples)

The idea of turning into a cloud when you pass away is rather a wonderful way to deal with grief & death, so sweet & innocent. Some of the other things the sheep teach themselves less so, thats not a good way to repress grief or trauma like that by thinking you have forgotten it.

Bryan Cranston turned back into chief from Isle of dogs for this film which i was like ahhhh. Also we all just accept the sheep all have accents from all over the world right?

This is a really good way to get kids into mystery & who done it movies. Yes theres death & drama & for kids some scary stuff which might give them some questions, but thats the point. Its a fantastic introduction to the genre & they can get the clues along the way at the same time as Greg from succession (he will always be greg by the way). I did work out early on who it was but by giving people the analogy names was clever.

There were at some points too many people in the film who were not fleshed out enough, both actual people & sheep & there were a couple who when we got near the end trying to pin the suspect down i genuinely had forgotten about. I get that its about the sheep, but i also forgot about some sheep were voiced as well. Dont get me wrong its a good voice cast & Emma Thompson in any film makes it better but yea it just was like oh we will add one more & then one more after that.

I laughed quite a bit which was good. Jokes for all the family in this to show that it is for everyone. A couple that were just for adults which i think i missed the next line to

This is perfect for taking your kids to & is still pretty decent as a millennial without a young family on your own. It is safe at times but maybe thats what i needed to be. Nice & chilled & a decent mystery to keep the cogs ticking over.
