Well it took 20 years, but 3 weeks ago i watched the first one for the first time & got irritated with everyone in it (especially the guy who ruined Marcus Pikes life {bastard}). But the trailer & music for this has felt fun so im fresh & ready to watch the second one. Lets see how much of a devil they are this time.
Wednesday 7:40 screen 2 had about a 3rd sold. Mainly millennials if im honest. the girls the row in front of me had the prosecco popcorn deal good on them. It was a decent turn out considering its on like on the hour all of this week.
Trailers The christophers (now ive seen this all the cinema wants to do is promote it), tuner, the new anne hathaway film which isnt this one or the singing one, mando & the sheep detectives.
& then the film started… it left me feeling the exact same way as i felt watching the first one on tv.
Im going to be honest. I was here for The Tucci & The Tucci… well he slayed as always. how can you not love that mans acting & how loyal his character has been in these films &how he finally gets some flowers. He got the biggest reaction out of me in the film. I actually went awww at one point due to something he did. Yea hes the best part of the film. Im sorry girls you were all good but i have a soft spot for that man & he owned it as always.
I was not expecting Sir Ken turn turn up in this & then also play a bloody viola, violin whatever it is. That threw me. That was a nice surprise.
There were some cool cameos. Did everyone get Rory getting a speaking part or was that different for each country as to which sports person she randomly spoke to. But at one point it became a case as to who didnt have a cameo in this film who should have been in it. It got a bit much. Also Lady Gaga acting as Lady Gaga… how meta. Good songs though well done with the soundtrack. im obsessed with Doechiis song runway.
Emily Blunt is always a star & i love it when shes a bit bitchy & unhinged. Shes always been a legend. However isnt this the second time shes had a weird relationship with Justin Theroux. Wasnt he the manipulator in the girl on the train… stay away from that man Emily.
Anne Hathaways rant about how writing media is treated spoke to my should (especially someone whos about to try & find a publisher & wants more kudos) however why did her character half way through the film who is strong & independent & owning it all & talking about life, need to get a weak flimsy boyfriend? Can we not be single & successful & happy without a bloody man or other half? urgh. Also he wasnt a good actor & the chemistry was weak as fuck. She had better chemistry with the other assistants in the film or people she was bartering with.
I didnt laugh as much as i did with the first one. This one took itself a bit more seriously which is fine, but i think maybe i laughed 3 times at this.
There are a couple of twists in this the first one i so saw coming & the second one as soon as something was revealed i knew what was going to go down next, clever to hold it back but once the first moment happened the second one was obvious.
The getaway was nice. I liked that.
Now i dont do fashion, but damn the wardrobe in this & the outfits both for every day people & the catwalk… fucking divine. Made me sit there in my dress that is about 6 years old at least going hmmm maybe i need a new wardrobe or it is time to swap to the summer one soon.
Devotes of the original will lap this up & im glad they have been patient & its on par with the original. I might watch it again but would watch them both back to back again.
…THATS ALL…
