Cineworld along with most chains & independents are doing festive film season this year & the chance to watch this on the big screen, i couldnt miss it. So here i am on a tuesday night at 7pm when i should maybe be at home warm & snug & not spiralling, but this has to be seen.
Almost sold out my showing, lots of families & then groups of millennials too. I did see one person wear a no cheesess for us meecees jumper woohoo.
Trailers, Avatar (nope) moana, Goat & there was another kids film as well but i cant remember what it was. It isnt on my radar though so im guessing it was for little kids.
& then the film started… oooh it was magical (here is my original review)
The whole cinema cheered when Gonzo (sorry Dickens) said Tiny Tim DID NOT DIE! that was worth the moment. It didnt matter that i watch the film every christmas when i put my tree up, but damn it was rapturous that moment.
The largest laughs were for Rizzo. He is the perfect accomplice to Rizzo being Dickens in this. Light the Lamp not the Rat went down the best oh & his face when the cat goes to chase after him.
We got the extended version with the extra song. You actually heard a few people go whats this. Its not on the DVD version but i have seen the disney plus part of it before so i was very surprised that they did that. Nice festive touch was appreciated by me.
If i say it once i will say it 10000000 times. Michael Caine playing it straight & he hardly ever touches a muppet even when he softens at the end except for Rizzo Gonzo & Tiny Tim. He does it pure & true & i also always forget & then laugh that Beaker is petrified of him for most of the film too. Beaker always is epic. Hes not ANIMAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL though is he. My fave muppet always.
Death is still freaky but that score & it being that big on a screen, its very uncomfortable to watch. My childhood trauma from watching this always still unsettles me like 30 years later.
Got to get some Cheesess for the meecceess which he does right at the end of the movie, i never noticed that before.
Yea this was magical & im so glad i went out to see this, even thought its getting old. I had a blast & i feel truly festive now. I was festive anyhow but now, theres magic in the air… theres muppets everywhere.
