Cinema Club is back for 2019 baby whoop whoop. Here’s to another year of epic films to watch, let’s do them loud & proud & shout about them good or bad. The second is very early to go to the cinema but fuck it, we are now in Oscar season so let’s do this & star off with the favourite shall we.

Weird ages of people in the cinema really odd like a group of 14 year olds, people like me trying to collect all the award season film, people who were quite old, people who looked like historians. We really were an odd bunch to sit there & watch this together.

Trailer wise we had some of the big Oscar hitters Stan & Ollie, Mary Queen of Scots, Beautiful Boy, Green Car or whatever it’s called & then a random Jennifer Lopez comedy which seemed a little out of place if I’m honest.

& then the film started… now as you know I’m busy moving all my blogs across at the moment to here for reviews & I like them in order but this I have to get out of my system & type now & will edit & spruce up later, because I just need to shout it. This film is complete & utter crap. There I’ve said it meh…

Maybe I should say the nice things about it first. I liked the ducks they were quite good & sweet, & Olivia Coleman being in an Oscar buzz film is always good. That’s it that’s all the praise… oh I forgot I laughed once. My bad for missing that bit off.

It wasn’t stylish or elegant or utterly breathtaking like everyone has said. It lacked any class or dignity & was just to far up itself to make it any good. It didn’t deserve a character treatment which had no actual real reason to it.

It wasn’t dark enough or twisted enough in the places it needed to be & then would just go oh we’re doing this now which is horrific but brushing over it. Nope that didn’t work at all people.

Some of the cinematography was atrocious too. Bubble lenses like I’m doing a Panorama on my iPhone but no this is an Oscar worthy film that should be loved. Bullshite to that.

Nothing was funny or moved me or made me go oh really it was self indulgent & wants you to think it’s a better film than it is. It was cold an vacumous & just awkward to watch.

I have seen this so you don’t have to people. Unless you are collecting all the award season films stay away from this horrific disastrous mess of a film. It’s just fucking awful & I hope after the oscars I never have to hear from it again.

That wasn’t how I wanted to start my 2019 cinema club but unfortunately it is. Here’s hoping this isn’t a sign of what still to come.
