A NEW FILM IS OUT TODAY!
I’m not complaining but there has literally just been the Odyssey. Not even like an Indi a24 or neon movie or a little british film. There has been nothing & the week before the Odyssey was moana & youve all seen my review of that. So another film has been welcomed. However as its Spiderman once again its only competition is Nolan. So this is it for my week. That meme about Harry Osbourne saying all we have left is spiderman has come to fruition.

So My cineworld has had air-conditioning issues for the last 3 weeks which is a pain, so when a screen reaches 70% capacity it says its sold out, so i was very glad i booked these tickets early july as my screening was deemed sold out. i had a few more teen groups as i went to the 3:50 showing which when i booked it i was like oh this is fine, but then i forgot i booked it for the pre party day of pride so getting in & out of the city was crazy. I managed to do it though.

Trailers, i saw this one come out during the week & was like ill watch it then the week got busy & then it came on as the first trailer before this film & i gasped & went ooooh at it. It was not the avengers trailer. It was for the Thomas Crown Affair. FUCK A DUCK IM SOLD! Best trailer i saw also academy award winner Michael B Jordan sounds so so good. There was the avengers trailer & oak street & Jumanij (which i also hadnt seen & now im concerned about it) & there was that weird kids animated film which i now know the title for Forgotten Island. Still looks meh.

Before the film started we also had a message from Tom thanking us for our loyalty & to not spoil it for people this weekend. Nice Touch disney.

& then the movie started… Its pretty decent, but its not the be all & end all that people are saying it is.

Is it even a MCU spiderman film without some references to star wars, particularly lego star wars, because i was locked in for that. They were also some of the best scripted parts of the movie. I get that he has to move on etc, but those 3 interreacting, it felt right & i get it from the previosu film but it worked its magic when they all sat together & were just MJ, Ned & Peter. It felt right.

There is a scene in Sauna & a hot bath… i have no idea what conversation was going on except for Potatoes because i was distracted, but it was not from Tom being shirtless. Im sure hes shirtless in all of these, but yea that was not why i couldnt concentrate. someone was wifeing…

You all know i think Mark Ruffalo is one of the best actors of all time, like top top, even though he is in the mcu, therefore it pains me that we dont have enough of him as Bruce or the Hulk in this film. It felt like a wasted opportunity. In fact every single time Tom has had a villain (except Keaton) it has felt waster. Like there was no true villain in this. It flipped itself again. It then wanted to set something else up in the MCU. I am glad they brought back Scorpion but that was a end credit scene nearly a decade ago.

Every fight scene was really well choreographed & i loved the sling & swing from all the building, especially when they took it from Peters point of view & just cancelled everything out. It was brilliant. Its not quiet as good as the spiderverse but its pretty impressive, especially when you could just hear him breathe & there was no other noise going on.

Im going to be honest, it felt to long. I looked at my watch & was like we still have an hour to go & then looked after what i thought would be the almost wrap up point & was like 25more mins inc credits for the end credit scene. Yea it didnt flow properly im afraid to say. I did sit there at one point going can we get to the next bit please. It was like this had to be a filler before the next avengers film because they delayed it. It needed to pick up its pace.

I liked the punisher, my knowledge in him is a little lacking im afraid to say but i found him funny & ruthless & i really liked him. Especially at the end. I think that scene at the end without spoiling it would have been where Stan Lee would have turned up.

So with what peter told people & certain things happeneing… what does this mean from doctor stranges spell? Is it fucked? Cos thats a big plot hole now.

This was a walking advert at points, like every bit of tech is one it company, the beer on the shelf was there for far too long & theres one scene where we are looking at a car poster for like 10 seconds its crazy. We didnt need all of that. Thats how its going to get some money back.

There have been a lot more Meh super hero movies in the MCU & DC in the last few years that are worse than this, but this isnt the be all & end all of all superman movies. People are talking about this like its the Dark Knight… erm its not even spiderman 2 (still the best of them all) So i dont get it.

Also i get films are meant to engage you but after sitting through the odyssey twice so far & not hearing a sound at all for 3hs to the people in the row behind me & in front of me trying to make some things & event so much so that a dad told them to be quiet & threatened to get staff at one point, it says a lot. Yes clap at the end of the film if you have to but we dont all need to whoop at stuff. They did shut up after that.

You can tell at points that Tom had just left a Nolan movie too. He tried to make some of his more meaningful lines more powerful than in the past.

How can he afford that attic i dont care that it was storage, spiderman is not getting paid. No way could he afford that in its location even run down.

This was really really good, but i would say watch Spiderman 2 or either spidervers movie. They are so so so much better.
