Spoilers

Its been a long time coming but i am finally watching Now You See Me 2. Due to holidays, sickness & not being on i never saw this in the cinema & ive owned it for ages, so doing the a to z of physical media gave me the perfect opportunity to watch this at last. So lets see how cool this is. I mean im not sure its going to match the original. I adore that.
Also its now been so long since ive watched this that they are now have the third thats coming out in like 3 months time which is exciting. I am going to rewatch these come october so im ready for Now You See Me Now You Dont.

Now i love a heist movie, you know i do, & this is still a good heist at points, however part of the magic has gone away for two reasons. First they got rid of Isla, i mean she was pregnant with twins at the time, & as a woman im glad they did go actually, but it now just feels a little weird in hind sight that they did this & make her an official horseman. Just felt odd. The second oddity is that we all know theres a 5th horseman with The Ruffalo & its revealed to the world quite early on in this film. So theres no hiding him at all. It could have been so much fun knowing the joke was on our side, that we knew he was in on it, but not any other characters, it could have at least waited for the end of Act 2 for that to happen. It also felt (& the avengers are probably why this was hte case) that he was pushed out a little.

Obviously the vault scene with the card is iconic. Its shown so much online, to make it look like its one take with minimal editing & following that card around the room. Its madness. Its cool & its visually amazing, but those guys are so all over the place & strict about it. Its over the top & fabulous & it doesnt matter how many times you watch it, be it a twitter clip or youtube or in the film, its still makes you sit on the edge of your seat.

Casting Daniel Radcliff as a crap magician whos envious, wonderful. Love it so much. HE plays up to it, but hes more than just that, hes really good in this. Hes just back stabbing & arrogant & i love this. Im so glad hes picked so many more random roles since being Harry, & that hes being cast for Merrit & not just cos he was the youngest & most important child actor ever, cos no offence, he was the first for our generation. He had to cope with all that.

So in future can all evil tech & corrupt people be taken down by magic please. Imagine Elon & Jeff getting taken down by the slight of hand, it would make much more fun the news at 6pm wouldnt it. Especially now a couple of years later writing & editing this part of the review, with data leaks & needing id to log into wikipedia, its batshit. Lets throw a magic cloth at them for them to tell us the truth. Its always so cool & stylish how they do this too.

How as epic magicians did they not see it coming, seriously. & how did Merritt not realise he was being hypnotised. Its also a clever call back. The first film mentioned his agent ran off with all his money, but in this one for Woody to be playing both him & his twin, masterful idea, loved it. I lvoe that both are ditsy too.

I get why we flew all the way around the world to make this, makes those countrys want to watch it or buy into it too, but almost every film went to a casino or posh hotel in Macau after James Bond did in skyfall. It was like bond did it so we all need to go. Even know watching it years later seeing them go there was very much a oooh i remember every film did this for 4 years. I mean i guess it makes the elite want to visit there.

The magic shop i get makes them realise magical origins, but i felt it was more of a distraction that an actual help. Yes using magic for the fight was a bit much.

Is Morgan Freeman going to last forever, i love how he id brought in to this just as we start to think okay now what. He turns up & is like babes remember be, you put me in jail bitches.

Drowning Dylan, i didnt see coming but i should have done. I was so angry when they did that that to him & i was like of course they are going to give him the same treatment as his dad for revenge. Its so clever, but i should have known that was coming. Bad movie nerd bad me.

All the little london magic street art shows to keep people guessing are so brilliant im so glad we get that in act 3. It brings it all backs to their original roles as magicians & their love for it & how they use others as a distraction. Much like most of the film is so you dont see the final twists coming each time. This one being that he is the son of arthur from the first film (Michael Caine).

They were never dead being thrown out of that plane, what a bad twist to have it, but damn the framing & the explanation as to how they did it all is always so cool. Also everyone just believes this… the horseman as freed & the bad guys are just like they are evil arrest them. I know i know its a movie, but still. Also for it to happen on new years… thats madness.

Also for the horseman made the eye at the end of the last film, werent they? on the carousel in central park, guess we need a happy ending & some sort of reward for them, not just oooh your magic is useful then.

Its not as good as the first, because that was just so much fun & clever & part of the twist is now ruined at points, but its still very good & clever & is fun. & lets be honest, if you dont like heist film your weird & if you dont like heist magic films, i feel sorry for you.
