When a film is that good that you try & convince everyone you know to go & see it & then they all actually do ( i mean some of them were thinking of going anyhow but still).
So its Platinum Jubilee weekend here, we get an additional bank holiday & theyve been moved around this year so we get a 4 day weekend. happy days. I want to go to the cinema, so have mentioned it to the parents that we could go see this or doctor strange, i do have to be back in time for a pub crawl & they have said they are happy to come see Top Gun with me again. So i am going from watching it on the biggest screen possible to one of the smallest cinema screens possible. I hope they enjoy it.
We went to the Dome in Screen 3 for the film. Their little sofa both parents agreed were much more comfortable than Screen 1 & really liked it in there too. Also for the 10:05am showing on a saturday it was completely sold out, im glad i booked in advance. A right mix of ages too.
Trailers, Thor (mama was like oooh its Taika yes ive trained her well), Elvis (yes) The Queens jubilee advert & Bullet Train (yes) but no mission impossible 7 trailer boooooooooooo where was it. Also my mum as they finished the adverts said to me how do you do these every time & i said well i always try & arrive just as the trailers start, & miss as many adverts as possible.
& then the film started… so was i just apart of the hype first time around…. nah no way. It still slaps & is epic.
More important both the parents really enjoyed it & thought it was good too. They both came out of it & were like oh wow yea that was something. & then i explained how shit legacy nostalgia sequels have been in the last 5 years & they went ahh oh okay we get that now wow then. My mum at one point did ask what happened in act 3 & i said wait & see.
I have since watching this seen the training everyone got to be in the movie & how they filmed the scenes. Wow Tom put them through it, but that was amazing. Good on them for doing it, thats dedication to the cause it really is.
There are so many more references you spot second time around too. I thought i had got them all on the first viewing but no i hadnt. Theres so many little ones.
Act 3 is one of the boldest coolest & most epic act 3’s in recent years, like act 3 is up there wit Tenet. It delivers on so many levels & so much can go down in that part, its amazing. It really is & when you watch it first time you think yea thats good & then when you watch it again you go oh wow. I still think Fallout is the best Act 3 in the last 10 years tho. Ive seen it loads & im still stressed they arent going to do it.
Hans score is just banging. & to mix all the songs into it at the right time & little hints throughout were just on point.
It just gives you hope for cinema & that we are going to keep getting big budget films that hit & make a fortune & people keep making them. IT really does give hope to the blockbusters of the world.
My sister saw Top Gun (shed never seen it before her husband loves it) & then the next day saw Maverick a few days after this & then messaged me when the credits were happening going you know youve been on about this for ages since you saw this & ive gone really, well i totally get it… when are they making the third. Yea she got it. good on her. Ive also had 4 different people who are from different walks of life & ages & gender say to me oh Maverick was excellent.
So yea please go see this if you still can peoples. I know theres now a lot of films to pick from but Maverick is an excellent choice to view. You wont be disappointed… the hand is hoovering, it really is.
