Thursday cinema at the Dome lets do this people.
So ive been looking forward to this for a while. & ive got the rest of my family to watch the first one & they all really enjoyed it, so when Critics came out & slated this i was a bit like hold the front door people, it cant be that bad. You didnt like the first one, yet that did so well with audiences & has found its own life of its own & people love it so hopefully youve got this one wrong too.
This is my first time in screen one of the dome since re-opening, i forgot how hard & uncomfortable those seats are in screen one. When youve got those old odeon arm chairs in screen 2 & sofas in screen 3 & those recliners at cineworld, when you go & sit on one of those its horrible. an hour & 10 in & my bum had gone dead & i couldnt get comfortable at all.
People wise i counted everyone who came in there was 38 people in the cinema to see the film, which is pretty good, Thursdays isnt a traditional film night or a cheep one, so it was interesting to see. Im guessing bad weather encouraged people in to see it. So not bad.
Trailers in the Heights, which is out tomorrow & im seeing it the day after, then Suicide Squad hehe that looks so much fun, then ti was Marvel family is everything & you are on this journey with us advert which looked so good on a big screen. & then it had the F9 trailer which starts off with Vin talking over it about thank you for being patient & you are our family so we cant wait for you to come back. That was bloody epic & i am now fully up for F9 next week.
& then the film started… I try to find the positive in most things so me saying this film was just about average is me being really really positive about this film & i hate that im saying that.
When it re ran the a joke from the first film for the first time you went oh okay ha i get you, but when it did that the fifth time i was like okay this is just lazy now. It could have done it a little more subtle, i mean i lost count by the end of it. I mean i get that the first film had a tried & tested formula but to really on that so heavily & lazily made it a little awkward to just re watch.
The film didnt need Morgan Freeman, im sorry it didnt. He was just there basically for the point of it & it was very awkward & he offered nothing, he didnt even move the plot on that much either.
The jokes about the Scottish people were awkward i didnt like that.
There wasnt enough of just Reynold & Jackson on there own to bounce off each other & by the time we got to that point you were so down with the rest of what had happened in the film that you were just like oh your giving us what we want now when weve given up on your film. we needed more of that bromance & banter.
Banderas wasnt in it enough to be a good villain. I mean Oldman in the last one did just turn it on when he had to, with his limited screen time, but he was more of a villain. Banderas if im honest i didnt actually care if he ruined Europe or not by the time we got to that point. The plan to blow up Europe with that huge drill was cool but still was so out there.
I did laugh there were some moment that were hilarious which do make you think actually yeah this is good especially with that other rival body guard & that escape, but other than that it just felt like it was being a bit to bulky & reliant on the last one. I mean even the guy from Captain America wasnt on form, he was just like oh god mate shut up.
Im glad ive seen it so the rest of the family dont have to pay for that. I was so let down by it. I wanted it to continue like the last one & build on it but it just felt awkward & that the soul & the joy out of the first one had now gone & it was clearly just made for the money & not the viewing experience.
Basically wait for it to be on sky cinema peoples & make sure youve got a few ciders before you start watching it to make it any good. Otherwise dont bother. The few times you laugh arent enough to forgive it of everything else it gets wrong.
