Rocky rocky rocky… seriously I need to get out of the habit of typing that when ever I view a film with the rock in it. It’s going to be really bad when he’s president isn’t it.

Film time well actually preview time which was nice. The day before the film came out cheers odeon for that. That being said not so cheers about the fact you had 20mins of adverts before the trailers yeah that not so cool. Mama popcorn was worried about where I was.

Trailers we had the incredibles for the last time… sad day very sad, Johnny English strikes again, fantastic beasts (not the brand new one it hasn’t been out at this point) & mission impossible & Christopher Robin so you could tell I was really grateful when the adverts & trailers stopped.

There is one trailer iv missed off the list. It’s for the Meg. One of my  favourite film reviewers Ali Plumb is basically this films pr guy. Anything before Thursday I had seen about this film had been from him. & we were chatting about it while I was waiting for skyscraper to start so I said bet I get a trailer now. I did haha. It looks ridiculous but I’m up for this if Ali is & that is good enough for me.

Cinema had about 30 people in there I guess not that many. But screen 5 is huge.. so

& then the film started… & it was standard if I’m honest. A good formula which has been around for years & years don’t brake it if it’s working. Give me a film with the rock jumping off a building while it’s on fire trying to save his family & the world & kill the bad guys yea I’m in.

Before we properly get going a lot of people have been saying why isn’t it someone with an amputation in the film, why is it the rock? They have a fair point but Hollywood have a lot of things to sort out amounts themselves at the moment, the the me too movement, equal pay, ethnicity & a fuck load of other things. So the fact that the rock has one of these for a major film is a huge step towards an amputee being in the next kind of film like this. Take it as a positive it’s got people talking about this. Okay yes the foot does play some role in it to save certain parts of the day, for comical effect, but he’d have just used something else instead to do that.

Right review time now

As much as I’ve said it’s the rock & it’s action & the foot has its funny moments, there weren’t enough funny bits throughout the film to break up the tension. The guy in the police van was best when he goes yes as all the people around him are all shaking there heads. At least we got some maybe the ones when it’s fun we’ve seen so many times that we wait for them.

Not enough Noah Taylor either. Knew he was going to be like he was when he first appeared & was very happy he fell into that role. Again is it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

I knew this film was probably going to end up being happy ever after however, there was 2 genuine moments when I sat there seriously worried that the rock wasn’t making it out of the film alive. I was properly on the edge of my seat going come on you can do it just a little bit more come on yes. The second time I did actually want to get up & start shouting at him.

The hologram room was good your in for a treat there people when you watch this.

Hello IT have you tried turning it off & on again.

Duck tape solves everything that’s a lesson in life. & I think that’s one we should all follow. Really we really should.

Bad villain really bad villain to generically European & bad accent & poor plan. Okay it works to an extent but he obviously wanted it to go better than it did even at the end. A proper name for the actor would have been good you know even a name like you go oh the guy from thrones who snarls are something(I don’t watch thrones guessing there’s someone who snarls).

So the formula for this kinda film isn’t broken. They just need to fine tune & polish this one to make it a genre epic. That being said I thoroughly had a good time watching it & cant wait for it to be on sky cinema next year. Cheers rocky for this little gem. It’s everyone else’s fault it didn’t work as well. You are now an amazing solo action lead actor.
