It’s the busiest 3 days for me in the entire year maybe I should have saved the cinema trip for Wednesday when all the accounts are gone. Nah I need some Tom Hanks to make me feel good at the start of the week so let’s do this.
So let’s do the traditional run to the cinema as the film starts at 5pm & you really shouldn’t leave your office at 5pm on the last 3 days of Jan should you. But when you mention it’s to see Hanks & Streep, everyone goes oh enjoy I hope it’s good. Get in.I lowered the average age of screen 8 to about 50 & that’s me being nice to them I was the youngest person in there by a country mile. Id say it was half full too. Not bad obviously all these old people have money to go to the cinema.Trailers we had Journeys End where I keep expecting Sam Clafflin to get out his tridon, the shape of water which  I’m still not sold I have to see it I don’t it will win won’t it & the mercy which looks crap sorry Colin it does it really does.& then the film started.To say Tom Hanks gives an amazing performance in this film is to say that the sun rose this morning & a new day started for us all. It’s not really re-portable News is it? The man is just the bees knees (bees do have knees right? I’m going to ask my office right now) so yea Hanks was splendid. Streep was good as the lead but not wow material I didn’t come away feeling empowered by her performance as a woman in power so felt a little disappointed there.That being said i had more of a connection with Sarah Poulson being Hanks’ wife, maybe i just spent so long with her on the OJ v the People that she just resonates with me now.
It didnt try to over dramatist everything too much, it used the original footage & voices & videos & pictures really well to make you feel like it was a documentary, not a film.  Its still a good story to tell as we all know it, so there weren’t any shocks at all.
This film is good, but thats about it unfortunately. I’ve seen better political journalist films in the last year. The fact that the names Streep Hanks & Spielberg are attached to it means its getting nominations galore, but if one of those names were missing & the film had come out a few months earlier, it wouldnt be getting anything.

The Hype does make you go & see a well crafted polished classy film, but i just wanted something a little bit more if im honest.
Fyi Bees dont have knee caps but they have all the right material for a knee in 5 joints per leg or feeler which mean they have 30 knees. See told you id find out. Cheers office.
