So i still just about have the film package on now tv, so im going to watch wonder woman 1984. The one that got away due to Covid in 2020. Yes i am aware i didnt watch a lot of films from 2020 due to covid, however this came out like the week before christmas & i didnt want my family to get covid so me & my friends had planned to see it the week after christmas, then we were put into tier 4. So this is it, its time to watch it. Come on girl nail it.

When your the lead of your own super hero film & holding the DCEU film together & you are outshone by two other people in your film, it says a lot it really does. There are some lush moments where shes epic & is a really good Wonder Woman but there are others where her acting isnt good & shes fluffing a bit & not doing so well. Maybe Gal Gadot isnt a good actress, ive thought this a bit recently. Its give it its all for 3 scenes & 1 fight & the rest of the time go through the motions poorly.

Chris pine despite being relegated to someone elses body & only being in the film for about 40mins with not much to do than fly & drive & tell her no, is the star of this film. Fish out of water just rocking the 80s retro & being so cool suave & charming. I mean he just acts his arse off & does everything he can to sell this & without him in it for those 40mins the film isnt worth watching…

… apart from the other story going on in the background with Pedro Pascal & his wishes & his son & all the random crap & rules they make up for him. He is trying to do as best he can. I mean i still freak out when i see him without his Mando helmet on, it feels weird. But hes got the hardest & most complex job to do in the entire film, so many things that need to be done & so many different expectations to meet. but at the end of the day hes just a dad who wants the best for his failing business & his son & the end & that reunion was so lovely. He rocks it.

Kristen Wiig isnt good. I know she starts off goofy & then becomes a mad person who wants to show off & be confident, but the transition wasnt even subtle it just happened. She lets everyone down in the fight scenes & then when shes that lion predator thing at the end nah i aint up for that. She just didnt work as the villain, especially as i am someone who usually sides with the baddies. Nah she didnt work.

so i know some super hero’s are all about the person not being in the suit & it being about them & being earthy & gritty & dark. Wonder Woman in these films doesnt fall into this category at all. Shes bright & vibrant & all about the suit & the fights. So after the opening (which is when shes a kid & is a race not a fight) there isnt anything superhero esq in this film til about 1h12mins. Thats a bloody long time for a supposed “action filled adrenalin rush” of a super hero movie as all the posters said for well over a year. & then we get one flight, three fights & an ending where all she has to do it tie Pedro up (i mean we havent all thought about that over the years right for many reason).

The opening race is good, i mean good life lessons about short cuts & stuff but still other than that it was very clever & good & that kid was epic. I loved that. So from there you think yeah this is going places, this is just going to be a ride. & then it doesnt live up to that hype. The only bit that gets close is the fight in the white house, but that has some bad bits too.

Was it in to have a weird remote prison or military base in all super hero films in 2021. This one where they broadcast the wish from is a bit weird & odd & he just walked straight in.

But do you want more… erm yes please mate… more of you with less rules…

So the guy Steve takes over & hosts the body of, what happened to that 2 week period he has no memory of that. Imagine explaining that to your family.

When shes in the iconic gold thats very cool & very like oh wow, but its only for like 5minutes & so much of the films press & hype was putting on the outfit. We arent that stupid to remember that shes not wonder woman out of the red & blue.

When shes flying through the sky using her whip, is cool to start & very lush but that is too drawn out too. & then they use it again at the end of the film & your just like yea just leave that now.

This also makes the flash forward at the end of the original make no sense as she would have only missed him for liek 30 years at that point of the film, since she last saw him.

No ones ever had that awkward a first day at work ever & why because shes a geek does that make her invisible & a cluts. Nah film not good for us girly geeks here, dont just put us all in that bracket.

The film also misses where it missed the mark in the last one. Shes not happy unless shes in love or with a man, in these film & shes still hung up on him all those years later. She needs to be a strong independent woman not in a romantic situation every time. Have DC not learns from black widow or captain marvel? urgh

This was very average at best & is low level super hero category. I mean people are sitting there going theyd rather watch Thor & Hulk again. It just doesnt deliver & if this is what the DCEU is holding onto, god help it. If it wants to continue at this rate Chris & Pedro need a buddy film where they just hand out wishes to keep it going.

I really wanted to enjoy it, but i just didnt. Sorry girl. I was hoping you were going to be good too.
