New Content time. & Its award season too. So all the more to watch this film.

When i told my parents that i thought we should watch this film last weekend they were like why, we arent that bothered, what’s the point. So then i told them it was a Tom Hanks Western directed by Paul Greengrass about trying to find your way home, they just both went yeah were up for that. & so they both were. So here we go.

As with may Netflix films new content, this will try to be more cinema club based ( i may have to create a new category for this actually now going forward).

Tom Hanks can do no wrong. Seriously the man is an acting god & is the greatest of all time & when he dies i will cry forever & ever. He is the heart & soul & love & desperation of this film. Okay it is basically him & the little girl travelling across texas, but some actors wouldnt be able to do that & be so commanding. He owns it, & hes out of his comfort zone, the man is mesmerising.

My mama was a little concerned that it would be to westerny (you know like an eastwood) but it wasnt. It was the level of western she can stand. It just happened to be set in the age of out laws & whats was going on.

Some of the visuals were amazing, especially the sand storm that happens oh wow. I was panicking with them n that bit. Its was proper engrossing & visually stunning.

None of the other people other than Hanks & the girl were actually any people you would route for. There was one that was kind of investable, but as soon as we got to know them they then left. We needed more of that character.

I cried, i didnt think i would but there was a moment when some stuff happened & i was just sitting there watching it thinking of the world as it currently is & watching Hanks at rock bottom & i just cried & cried. It hurt a lot. I just want to hug my sister…

I like the symmetry at the start & end that was nice & very poetic. As was the bit about the uprising & how America then was so dark & backwards. With what we saw in the last few months (pre Jan 20th 2021) it really does make you think. Have they really learnt these lessons from the past.

I really really enjoyed. Its definitely going to get some awards buzz (when that eventually happened) & Hanks deserves a lot of marbles for that stunning performance when he is the glue for the entire story. Westerns arent usually my thing but Hanks being a star is.

I cant really say anymore than that, without spoiling it for you.
