Spoilers

I was a stroppy moody teenager when this came out & didnt want to be seen going to the cinema with my little sister to see a disney film, why was i so ashamed why. Dont worry i have seen this a few times since as i realised i missed out epically, but i now as an adult now have disney plus so i can watch it all over again & love it. Happy days.

The voices in this film Goodman, Crystal & Buscemi are all just so perfect for there characters. My sister was 7 when this film came out but i bet there are some kids who were probably 4 or 5 when they went to see this who when they then say films with Buscemi on later on in life must have been bloody petrified. Its perfect voice casting & then matching the animation to go with it as well.

The double act of Mike & Sully really really does work even as a cynical adult watching this, you sit there & you do believe it & it does just work & yea its so clever & cool & the trust & the break up & the reconciliation & what you are willing to do for a friend. Its life goals right there its what everyone wants at some level in their life. ITs perfectly captured.

My favourite part of the entire film &, its a complete throw away moment too, but its when they do put that thing back where it came from or so help me. I laugh so much at that. So much so that i kept rewinding it on disney plus because it does just make me smile & then i always miss the next bit, so i waited til id calmed down so i could here the next part.

The idea of monsters scaring kids for leccy is epic, & the whole monster under the bed thing too. But then the fact that the monsters are scared of people & kids is amazing i love it. Someone obviously got a very big paycheque for coming up with that idea & im all here for it. however that being said, the kids always get the same monster very time. Really? Nah surely a couple but then swap it out for someone new. Surly they wont be scared after a while. I mean Randall is scary but you know.

The chase through all of those moving door was probably harder to create than animating all of Sullys hairs one by one. There is so much going on in that scene. Its brilliant. The movement the editing the score. Its Goosebumps. Ive seen simple action sequences fail where this very complex animated scene succeeds. ITs wonderful. It a good way to introduce kids to different places in the world too (okay stereo typical landmarks but still).

Roz is the worlds greatest “Karen” & i dont care who knows it. I do have an aunty call Karen who so isnt a Karen if you get me.

When Sully thinks Boo is dead thats actually quite funny, in the trash compactor.

I didnt when i first saw this film, see the twist that the owner of Monsters Inc was the actual bad guy. It actually does make a lot of sense, now that ive seen it & few times & thought about it. He wanted unlimited screams & unlimited profits & was willing to sacrifice a lot of people along the way to get it. I know there are lots of jobs & bosses out there who would do that (not kill kids but you know do whatever to get the most profit).

Its bloody sad saying goodbye to Boo with Sully & it emotionally ruins me, it really really does, especially when she goes back to open the door & its just her wardrobe. Thats so sad. However where the hell did her parents think she was for that amount of time? thats not responsible of them is it. & then later on when Mike has rebuilt the door & hes just missing the one piece that Sully had kept for however long it had been… that is real friendship goals right there. HE knew how much it had affected his friend to see her leave & he had spent ages reconstructing it all secretly for him. Thats the real love in the story it really is & it breaks my heart every time. & i also think thats why you only see him put this head through the door & not the full reunion, it would be too much. I mean im crying writing about it, thats how lovely it is & emotionally damaging. We all need a friend like that. Pixar why do you do this to us, why why why & why do we always fall for it?

Mike being covered up by everything hes on & everyone always goes oh bless him but hes just so proud that his hand is there, its bloody brilliant. That would so be me. & i love that on the disney plus selection for the monsters films, hes covered up there too. Brilliant.

So Pixar have done it again, they make us laugh they teach kids good life lessons & they make the adults cry there eyes out & have an emotional breakdown. Its what we expect & its so epic & funny & sweet. Its a classic & anyone who doesnt get monsters inc… then so help them.
