Cinema trips are like busses… you wait a life time for one to come along & then 2 arrive at the same time, or should that more aptly be 4 trips in 5 days. Yep i said it would be back with a bang, & a bang with Sound of Metal is what i cant wait to see.

I could have seen this on prime but all the critics in award season said wait for your cinemas to be reopen to see this, you home speakers dont do it justice. So thats hat ive done.

& i am back in the seat that i was last night too. I know this is now officially my seat here, leave it with me. There were 2 people less in the cinema to see this then there were for last nights film (obviously people have seen this on prime) but other than that everyone else is here so 13 of us in total.

The trailers were the exact same as the night before, seriously even the adverts before hand as well. So i didnt actually need to pay attention to them which was very nice indeed.

& then the film started… & everyone is right, you have to go & watch this film in the cinema.

I mean all films should be seen on as a big a screen as possible right, but this one you dont actually need it for the pictures, you need it for the sound. It is so immersive & so cleverly done. The way its edited. The distortion. The moments of pure silence. Wonderful. It seriously gave me chills it was that good. I felt like i was in every room in each situation, it was epic.

Often i sit here & i moan that films linger on random car drives & leaves blowing in the wind or a random field a little too long, but the fact that you were paying so much attention to the noise & ambiance that came with it, it actually worked & was a triumph. It just completed the entire film of it & all the different landscapes as well brilliant.

& the whole film is subtitled. All of it. Someone when they left the cinemas actually want & asked why that was the case…. thats the point. The film should be for everyone & it raises more attention to deaf people & does make you concentrate more (i often find that with foreign language films, i concentrate more as i have to read). What a way to do it.

Ive not even talked about Riz yet. Sorry Riz. Fuck me you were on fire & on form, on point & just on it. Seriously a please to watch you do everything in the film from joy to despair & everything that happens .Its a masterpiece. Im not going to say his performance was better than Chadwicks, they are completely different, but i think there was more skill & empathy & passion in what Riz did. & hes british so hes always going to get my vote amazing.

I love those kids at the school they were amazing. I really hope they were actually deaf in real life & that this experience was such a learning curve for them to help them. The bit on the slide is the best bit of that experience as it helps them all get to a new place.

Its overall message of just taking time about & to appreciate what you have & the help thats needed was very good. Lots of morals about life choices & decisions not just from riz but from characters around him, which were really moving & told so much of a story. Even the moments of silence wonderful & so reflective.

This film needs the big screen for the sound. Unless you have that good enough surround sound (which unless your elon musk i doubt you do) you need to get to the cinema to see this. Its stunning & is Goosebumps worthy at times.

Riz was robbed… there ive said it.
