This is going to be a very personal one for lots of reasons.
We as a family love Tim Minchin.
We as a family love Roald Dalh & the book Matilda.
We as a family love the 90s movie.
We have all been to london to see the play live.
So this being in the uk in cinemas & not on netflix, is a big thing. However my sister is too busy. So i am taking my mum to see this on a chilly sunday afternoon, before the England game in the World cup in worthing.

Shes not been to the studio room since its upgrade & now finally knows what i mean when i say theyve stolen her lights. Its sold out (its been out for over a week) except for the seat next to me typical. All are familys be it little kids, teenagers, young adults parents & grandparents, its making everyone go to see it. Good on it, well done peoples.

Trailers, Strange World (which was weird as ive seen that over a week ago) Elemental (yes) & Avatar (nope)

& then the film started… Magical. Just purely Magical

There was a point where both Mama & i looked at each other & we were both crying. She before it started as i got tissues out & said really & i went it Matilda, by Tim, of course im gonna cry. & its the festive season so im always gonna be an emotional wreck. I think there were a few point in the film where i di well up but there was deffinately 2 when i full on cried & had to do some deep breathing to calm my self. They just got it right.

The girl that was Matilda was perfect & so were the rest of the kids in that class & school. Brilliant & amazing & so cool. They should all be very proud of what they have mad in this film.

Tims Music is always a triumph. its so clever & funny & sets the scene so well. But the songs can also be so dark & disturbing & just ewwwwwwww no way. They really do make you think hang on theres are for a kids film. & then he brings out all your emotions especially with when i grow up. I love that song, i always have. & the score & the tempo ooooh it just works so well. Tim has bossed it sooo much.

Emma Thompson as the Trunchable… oh my. Theres gonna be a generation of 5 year olds who are going to be scared of her. She was phenomenal like she always is but oh my did she go for it. She was scary & dark but also had the correct comedic timing. Also i loved her control room & when she sang & her sports class. It was brilliant. Truly magnificent, epic & Evil.

The choakey too. Ekkkk i mean nothing will scare me like the one in the 90s (but i was 6 then so you know) but it was still frightening. & dark & just ewwwwwwwwwwwwww no no no. Not nice at all.

Stephen Graham is always a good actor, but my mum forgot he was in it & then was like no fucking way. & then laughed her head off when she realised. Hes so underrated.

All the dances being choreographed by strictly come dancing ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I love that we saw so much of matildas story about the circus. I loved that. It was beautiful. You dont get as much with it in the show version, but here. Yea they went for it & took the budget & did it all. I wont spoil it for you but its rather special how its told.

I have on purpose not written this review as i know you guys now have this all on netflix & i wanted to give you all a week to play catch up. But it is my favourite family film of the year & is amazing & brilliant &funny & emotional & true & i dont think youll find anything better family related on your netflix this christmas.
