A thursday evening 6:10pm film straight after work. Perfect. I mean its a shame there isnt an adults only showing for this, but that will do & i really wanna hear Mendes sing even if hes animated so yea that is gonna be fun.

Time to play everyones favourite guessing game… how many people were in the screening with me… come on guess??
Nope
No
Nah
Narp

No one

I had the 6:10 screening of Lyle all to myself. Thats not happened for ages at the cinema, what the hell. It only came out this week. Guessing everyone went & saw it at the weekend or on the cheaper days.

Also i had to explain to the guy at Starbucks about my coffee order & they were like the hell & someone said ahh theres notes about that on the system & when it was handed over they said this is the way. Happy days.

Trailers Matilda, Strange Worlds, & Black Adam. Its a kids film after all. Were not gonna subject people to Nolan creating Nucelear war are we, kids dont need that in their lives. Altho all the lego adverts arent helping my pining for my £120 Razor Crest that i sooooooooo want. I really want it. Please someone get me it.

& then the film started… & it was pretty standard & sun & what youd expect for a kids movie like this, 100%

So the crocdile when i just stands there is just stanard for an animated character in a live action film. & then the second it starts singing & Mendes starts singing it transforms into something so charasmatic. Even the way he slides & flicks his wrist at points, its 100% Shawn. Its a really clever & brillaint way of introducing him into the world of acting.

All the songs are catchy too. I mean a few get a bit to repetative, but they are all toe tappers. They all have good storys to them & morals & life lessons.

There was not enough Bardem in this. I mean i knew from the outset he was popping in & out like all the big names tend to do in these films now. I get that. But theres alomst a whole hour without him at one point & then he randomly came back & i was like ahhh thats what this film has been lacking for a while. I get that he was there to make a pointabout life & fame & struggles but still. More of him please.

It was the modern childrens movie cliche of a child alone & out of place & not fitting it suddenly has magic & a creature thrust upon them & it solves all there issues. I get that & it is done well. But i am here to tell you all that (& im sorry for breaking your kids hearts) real life doesnt give you that. I mean i know they over come everythign in the end on their own & they learn how to live with & without the magic, but still. There is no magical person whos goign to come solve all your problems like the movies want you to believe.

Theres a wrestling scene half way through this film, which is so random & funny & im not sure it belonged in a kids film.

So theres a cat in this film which at times completely steals the show for the right reasons & then every now & then it is so badly CGId it ruins parts of the film. How can you get that cat so right at points & then so wrong in others? urgh… it was like early 00s animation. Come on hollywood!!

All lost depressed kids have roof top or a pond or secret area they acan run off to at night in films now. I didnt have that. But in films they all do have that. Lucky them.

I like that one of the reedeaming features is that well the crocodile has a scarf so that makes it acceptable. As someone who loves a scarf & knows its approaching scarf season im here for all of that. Bring on the scarfs.

Theres a little mild peril & drama towards the end of the film & you know what the film did need it to complete the life lessons & journals we were learning along the way before the grand finale.

I want some chocolate cherries please… is that too much to ask.

Over all its a nice story & is good for the preteens & early teens to see. Parents wont get bored & the songs are all very good. Theres nothing wrong with it at all. It does exactly what it says on the tin & is well worth a casual watch peoples.
