So there’s a story to this one. My manager at work is fascinated by the fact that I go to the cinema so much & is really interested in what my favourite films are. I asked him bout his & he said well except marvel & the lion king he liked a film called Leon with Gary Oldman & Natalie Portman. I told him I would go home & see if it was on sky cinema or on my sisters Netflix account. Turned out it wasn’t.

So after the following weekend I got to work to find a gift wrapped up on my desk. He had purchased me a copy to watch to see how good it was. So true to my word a couple of weeks later I watched it.

It was okay good premises but ultimately the ending let’s it down.

I wanted it all to go full on have full out war & argument & fight but nah the final show down when the two adversary’s meet its over in 10secs. Nope I needed more than that. Did the director in 1994 think nah that’s okay.

Even as a child natalie Portman was a wooden actress. She is I’m sorry. & she  had epic people to learn her trade from as well.

Jean Reno is okay as a hard man assassin but he should have just gone nah & taken her back to school. Not look after her. Yes his no women & children sense is good but other than that he mucks everything else up. Flawed character which could have had so much more promise.

Where as Gary Oldman can do know wrong in anything he does. He’s seriously fucked up & I love it.

When he takes her to kill people with paint balls that’s fun that really clever teaching her how to do that & then doing it himself. Still stupid in principle tho. What’s going to happen to her next if she’s done that.

It was even filmed in a retro 90s style trying to make it look edgy but failed really. Maybe it was cutting edge & gritty all those years ago but it’s not now.

I did enjoy it & am glad I watched it & don’t think any less of my manager for it being one of his favourite films. But there’s much better revenge shootem up films that have come out in the last 20 years than that one.
