Marky Mark, its time to see you be a bit of a bastard & fly this plane. Im looking forward to this, i hope its as suspenseful as the trailer makes it look. Lets go see whos is a Flight Risk or not.
Im trying to have as many monday night cinema trips as i can at the start of the year, as come April (which we now know{we even now have a date}) Monday nights will be food shopping followed by the last of us. So im sure Cineworld are like ahh shes here again on a monday, they will miss me im sure. But screen 6 everyone else had the memo because it was at least 70% full which was pretty good. Mainly people my age. It clearly was the generation that used to watch all those Mark action films in the late 00s.
Trailers, Captain America, Micky 17, The last show girl (felt a little out of place) Death of a unicorn (looks fun) & then the new Danny dire film about being high. It looks crap but will probably be hilarious or a waste of time.
& then the film started… This is why i try to not pay attention to trailers at the cinema.
The trailer ruined it. It did. We know that Marky Mark is the bad guy from the outset. Its posted all over the posters & trailers. There is no shock there at all. I was hoping there would be more of a twist to this that him just being a hit man & trying to take them out on a plane but no there wasnt which was a let down.
Also i get that Mark gets you a bigger budget & who wouldnt want to work for Mel Gibson, however him being such a bigger name that the other 2 people in the plane with him is a kick in the teeth. They are good & they are both decent recognisable actors, but if you had some how avoided the trailer & the poster, its obvious hes the bad guy from the start, that hes going to be the one causing trouble. Mark was good dont get me wrong, but it would have worked better if all the actors were on a same start level power, because then you might not know who was going to turn. I get it gets you funding to get your film made but still. Someone like a Dan Stevens would have been better.
Topher Grace was the best actor in this film. He was owning it. He had the most to deal with & i felt for him & wanted him to be safe so much. I mean Michelle was also good but he just seemed have the blind panic about him & vulnerability which just worked.
I also liked that we didnt really see anyone else, & they were just voices on the radio or phone. It added more suspense to actually make you think who was who & were they really helping them out.
WE GOTTA FLY OVER THE FUCKING ANDES MAN! I know they dont but when they hit the snow, all i could think of was Frankie.
This film had so many self imposed rules, which didnt even last 5minutes at some points, it was becoming a bit of a joke that when something was said we all knew it wasnt going to be followed through.
I mean when they unlocked him & after him spending about an hour going where can i run away from, i mean it took them long enough to catch on.
& then dont get me started on the fights on the plane, from gun fire, flares & tying up. All far to over the top. Also that plane was small but had so much stuff on it & lots of room. It was crazy, almost like a Tardis.
It was packed with stuff, but it was over far to quickly. Yes it was good the flight was all but done in real time for the 90 minutes. But i needed to know after the final shot, was justice done. Did they get to where they needed to go? Was this now more evidence as to what was going down? I needed more, even if it was another 10minutes thats all im asking for. Justice is needed.
This film so wanted to be a suspense drama set on a plane with no escape, but the trailer so ruins it for you. If this was made in 2005 wed have all gone oooh very good & cool nice, but its now 2025, it doesnt have the same kick to it. Or maybe ive now just seen to many films. Fun but do wish it hadnt been spoilt before you even got to the cinema.
