SPOILERS (and sorry in advance)
I do like a comedy, it has to be the right comedy though, otherwise i just don’t laugh at it. Bridesmaids actually made me want to fall asleep. So when i heard Will Ferrell & Jon Header, were doing an ice skating comedy i was properly hyped about it. This can sometimes work against you as a film fan, waiting for this amazing film to come out to watch it, and then being really let down by it. This was not the case for Blades Of Glory. Its Hilarious.
I decided to watch it last night, i haven’t seen it in a couple of years, so i thought this was the time. And you know what its still as good now as when i first watched it.
Basic plot disgraced world champion ice skaters who hate each other & fight, get banned from their sport, only to realise years down the line, that they can skate in pairs, so become the first male male ice skating team from the winter game. However the brother & sister they go up against just want the gold, and are happy to cheat there way to win by any means.
Will Ferrell is one of the funniest guys in the world, he is just amazing as the sex addict skater Chaz Michael Michaels. However his performance is helped my Jon Headers Jimmy MacIlroy, the rags to riches pure blooded american, brought up to be a champion. Both react really well to each other, despite both characters and actors not having too much in comedy.
This film has some of the best line of all time.

The night is a dark time for me. Its dark for everyone you moron. Not for Ninjas with Night Vision Goggles.

All of the routines performed are mad and how they ever got them that far in the competition i have no idea. Peacocks, cowboys, urban rap, fires & ice, JFK & Monroe (which i wish wed seen more of) & of course FLASH…AHHHH saviour of the universe, feature the famous Iron Lotus. That’s another amazing line. We swap places. I swear to God if you chop my head off…
After the sex addicts and the impure bedroom meeting. There’s a brilliant race to get to the arena on time, down a river under a bridge, through a hockey game, and through a shopping centre. Whom ever did invent rope probably didnt like being called an A hole. Ferrell ends up crashing through the ice after snow flake the mascot gets shot, and it so poignant that his brush that he loves more than life itself floats away, like he chose to save that only for he to re-emerge 10minutes later a mile further down the river.
We do get a happy ever after too, they despite all the odds, death attempts, broken ankles and lotuses, they manage to win the gold, get the girl & get the rivals arrested.
There are not many Comedy films i laugh at more that this one. So please go and watch it people. No matter how long i type its not going to do this film justice. An Epic film. Just remember to CAPTURE THE DREAM!
