Spoilers!
Everything is awesome! Well that’s what they keep telling us.
I’d watched this film recently before I decided to start blogging, so I wasnt going to watch it for a while. However there was a LEGO documentary on tv & my parents both said we haven’t seen the film, so we watched it.
My mum who had been saying for a while that she wanted to watch it & then what did she do… Sleep through it. SHE FUCKING SLEPT THROUGH THE FILM! ARGHHHHHHHH seriously love, she does this with Alan Carr & Graham Norton & motd. I can’t take her anywhere.
Anyhow film review. Star studded cast all as Lego people with not many characteristics to the people who play them. You know what I mean when they do or say something similar to the voice actor. Yea I know it’s hard with Lego but you know. The only exception is Will Ferrell president business, but that becomes clear later on the film for the kids to get it. The basket ball players are also voice by the basketball players but that’s only a 3min bit of the movie.
Like any kids film its telling you no matter who you are or where you’ve come from, you can be whoever you want to be, there is no restriction, let your imagination run wild & be special.
Its also a brilliant product placement film. Its making you pay for an advert, and once you’ve watched all you want to do is look at lego. Im sure my Lego Loki and would back me up on this. The fact that it uses different character and sets from the companies history is brilliant.
Batman is the best by a mile, the fact that hes so stupid & you keep thinking hes going to break up with the girl. He will only build in black or at a push really really dark grey. He then doesnt get the Bruce Wayne bit & ends up breaking up with the girl so she can be happy with the real hero. Sorry but batman is the real hero.
My dad actually giggled at the ghost of Morgan freeman, (Spoiler he dies) and the way you actually see the string flying him around. It would be what you would do if you were playing with it.
The freezing everyone with glue was a good idea by lord business, but hes going to electrocute the master builders with 1 battery, and they are all made of plastic. Im telling you all now that wouldnt work.
Major Spoiler here dont read on if you havent watched.
The man upstairs scene, when you discover its a play set a Dad (the real Will Ferrell ) has made and that he bans his kids from using it, is a master stroke. It not good for future generations tho, they will all grow up thinking Will Ferrell is evil, so thats not good poor kids. It does mean that it cool for adults to have lego tho, my tiny Han Solo & millennium falcon can sit on my shelf proudly (it will do anyhow took me a good 90 mins to build).
Its nice that the kid eventually makes his dad see his error and that they can both play together. Proper family bonding time on the horizon.
I am worried about the sequel unless its new character with a new family, im not really sure where they can go on from now, with this story.
Its a very good film, with a good message for kids. It is all product, but its got a good morel to the story, which everyone of all ages can be inspired by. Well done Lego that was really awesome.
