There are other films in the cinema other than Endgame, quick people go go go. Odeon im back baby for film thirty six of 2019 for Cinema Club… so lets do one that i have no real expectations about which i know friends want to see so i’m seeing it for them & reporting back… Tolkien

Screen 8 was ready for me & they finally have doe all the seats so they are now new & they’ve painted it too yay. Happiness for that whoop. Id say there was about 10 other people in the cinema with me all odds as well only one group of 2 & a real mix of ages & types, not that im sure what the type is for this film.

Trailers we had Aladdin (yay) Rocket man twice as theres an odeon special trailer at the moment (yay hurry up pops decide when you want to see it) , Yesterday about the beatles (probably) & The Hustle ( which isnt out til fri so will see that next week)

& then the film started… One of the reasons i wanted to watch this was because of the little i know about him & i wanted to see what his life was like. I have seen one of the films havent had the time or patience to watch the rest. I will do one day i know i have to do that, so i was intrigued as to how this was going to be done.

Well lets just say that is 100minutes of my life i will never ever get back. I’ve wrote my mini review for notes when i got home on this & im now sitting here typing going what did i see again. It was so dull & boring & lack lustre that ive forgotten this film already. I know i’ve seen a lot of films this week, but i should remember a cinema trip. Yet i am sitting here blank.

Thank god for Nicholas Hoult, giving a very emotive passionate performance at times ( i say at times there were some bits where im sure my hairdryer could of out performed him) but if it wasnt for those few glimpses it would of been a hell of a lot worse.

The trailer made you look out for some of the imaginary stuff & word that would eventually become his books & films on everything, yet these were all animated poorly & sometimes didnt fit into the rest of the story at points or were just thrown in because we need the word Fellowship or Hobbit dont we. Blah Blah build it to be more inventive if your going with that vibe.

The war part wasnt gripping, as much as his life was flashing before his eyes the fact we start here & then head to the flashbacks & knowing the books arent written yet, meas we know he survives the war (thats not a spoiler thats history google it) means there is no suspense & the war wasnt done well enough to make it properly gritty or the dark enough to have the visions.

His friends were okay but at no point was there any proper bromance or council , we got more of that from Jacobi than anyone else & even he was like why the fuck am i in this film. No love or soul to the most unbreakable friendship apparently. Maybe theres where me & my girls have got this all wrong we love each other too much.

It was about 15 no 20 mins to long as well. There was a point to end it which could have been inspiring & made you feel okay & then could have told you the rest, no we had to go & see more of it after that point.

Highlight of the film was Colm Meaney best known by me as Pat in Alan Partridge being a vicar but he wasnt there for the laughs no. Serious acting boo.

Not even the visual setting & metaphor of forest or the beauty of areas or pain of war made it any more enticing to watch. It was all just to hollow with no spirit even with some stunning country side bits. Even the own languages thats bullshite & can fuck off who cares.

Well this has been very hard to write, it really has, how can your write up a film that is so so dull. I will probably forget this time next week that i’ve seen ti & when my friends ask me what happened in it i will go mehhhhhhhhhhhh. Sorry film you failed in the biography & fantasy respect of these genres & didnt even try to get at least one set up right.
