Welcome to 2018 everyone yay. Another year a new start for Cinema Club, lets do this people. Come on get on board.
So i was going to see this on Wednesday anyhow, & was about to book up my Odeon ticket when my friend said does anyone want to see this with me for £3? kinda had to say yes didnt i couldn’t leaver her on her own really thats not nice is it. Although i always go on my own so. Another friend came too & we had dinner first & then went to Worthing to the connought.
I didnt know the connought did £3 Wednesdays thats very good indeed might get mama popcorn into this.
They only had 10 minutes worth of adverts yes yes yes 3 trailers all for Oscar nominated films (the post, the darkest hour & 3 billboards) a few star wars bits & then please turn your phone off please.now that good very very good.
Cinema was pretty full for the 3rd day of the year which is good you know could of been a lot worse. I know £3 means if its crap its not the end of the world but id say it was 80% full in there. Also their seats are more comfortable than the dome too. Still have to take glasses though, which i don’t really like doing.
So that the film started… the first cinema trip of 2018 &… its too soon to hit the golden buzzer right?
What an amazing heart lifting joy full colorful fantastic film. LALA WHAT!? This is how you make a modern musical film. Its outstanding.
Hugh Jackman… oh that man. He did make me cry once when he started to cry, that was emotional. But oh he just ran the thing like it was his last chance at life (which i like the film really). It was a pleasure to watch such a commanding loving evil & beautiful performance all within 5 seconds. Just fabulous. It was also a pleasure too see him in a top hat & tails. Oh that man.
I did cry one other time & then once that part had finished actually felt really empowered & wanted to stand up & applaud.
Efron was brilliant too, not in it for as long as i thought he would be but still effortless stunning & cool & the right man for the part.
Rebecca Ferguson & Michelle Williams were both good, but i dont think there heart was in it as much as everyone else. Still good performances, but didnt feel as connected as everyone else.
I would try & do that much dancing after all of those shots of whisky, but id get up on the bar & fall straight off after lifting one leg smack my head & then be in A&E.
I love the fact there was that elephant (its worth the wait) but that was really cool & funny.
My friends one issue with the whole thing was Zendaya choice of clothes for her trapeze piece with the song. That it would of been unheard of for the time. It looked fucking cool though. I wish i could do that with Efron.
I loved that critic bloke he was cool, didnt remind myself to much of me which is good, im not mean for the sake of it.
So is it worthy of the Golden Buzzer which can only be hit once a year for film of the year… hmmm… its certainly a contender, but nah i cant hit it after the first film of the entire year, that would be completely wrong & not fair on everyone else. But its defiantly worth a watch people. Everyone at work on Thursday said they hadn’t seen me smile that much in a long time.
Its truly special.
