Double Bubble Back to Back Cinema Clubs are becoming more of a thing at the moment, which is a shame really. 1) no time to put up the last review before seeing the next film. 2) Odeon not putting films on at a half decent time for me 3) I dont get home til 11pm. Oh well i choose to do this so cant complain to much. At the moment they have all been enjoyable so far.
Screen 4 was pretty good actually id say 65% full. Middle section was packed but not many people of the sides or at the very back before the premier seats, which was where i headed. Still good though. I did lower the average age in there by about 15 year though. Felt a little out of place if im honest.
Trailers we had On The Basis of Sex, which i always see & go meh & then i see Armie Hammer & go okay im interested in your film now. We also had Boy Erased, Instant Family, Alita & Fighting with my Family (bring it on yay).
& then the film started… This has been talked & ummed & arr about for so long its going to be really good to see if it matches the hype.
This film needed two strong emotive powerful performances to carry this film, where they had real chemistry & desire & you had to believe in them & by god did the two of them deliver. Both Viggo & Mahershala are so captivating & mesmerising in their performances. Both deserve every single piece of praise they deserve & the nominations they have received are entirely justified. Mahershala will probably walk away with an oscar in a couple of weeks time again. Altho i’ve just learnt he wasnt actually playing the piano boooooooooo. Not as impressive anymore. Who ever that was who did play the piano Kudos.
It hits you in the guts & the feels & the holly shits for all the right & wrong reason this film. It shows you the good & the bad & does make you stop & think much like the characters in the film too (well not as much as they are all so judgemental & mean in it to everyone).
The letters to home were amazing even before the help. I think they were perfect anyhow, but the new ones were stunning too. PS kiss the kids for me.
I’m pretty sure i was at Carniege Hall when they filmed it as there were lots of old retro cars there when we were in New York. So i recon they were filming would have been the right time too.
It had some really funny moments in it as well as the dark ones & the overly played morals in it. But it needed the banter & the lessons to be evened out after all that is real life right? & yes i did cry at the end before the obvious bit i have to say i was prepped for the obvious crying bit but the bit before it nope i wasnt & that got me.
A must see stunner for award season you will not go home disappointed. I genuinely believe that the Academy will name this best picture in about 3 weeks time.
