Lifes got in the way the last couple of weeks, all sorts of stuffs been going on hence less films less reviews less cinema club. But for a little while now we will be all right here maybe. To quote the grate Ronan Keating Life is a Rollercoater you just gotta ride it. So im back in the cinema for a bit of horror to watch behind my hands.

Screen 2 for a little while for this 6:30 showing was just me on my own which made me feel a little odd. Then 1 person turned up & they looked a little odd so i started to worry & then another odd 1 turned up with about 2 more trailers to go. They looked even odder than the first one. So i am sitting in my favourite chair in the cinema under the air-conditioning thinking this is how i die watching a Gunn family horror film & i am killed by these two odd people. Thank god for the group of 3 teenagers who walked in just as the moon man appeared. I relaxed then. That was it noone else joined us.

All the trailers were for horror films & all were ones which didnt grab me at all. The only one i really remember is Midsummer, thats it & thats only because there are a few good british actors in it.

Also the normal moon man was back not the new fancy one bit odd. & i hate that odeon horror screen that seriously can fuck off.

& then the film started… well you can tell it a Gunn family horror film all of their little tricks & suspense & noises make it so & i think that was what i enjoyed the most about it.

There were some deaths torture & gore that were amazingly filmed & stage but did make your stomach crawl & then a few bits that were a bit of a kop out if im honest where they should of got more for it. All im saying is an eye & a jaw were stunning.

Also noone was ever suspicious of this kid at all up to this point in the film or that their family were all like wow you kept that adoption pretty quiet didnt you, that happened quickly. Nope just me.

I also wanted to know a bit more about his powers & why they were suddenly triggered & to what extent they really could go to. I wanted more information on that & as to how he could turn it off & on again.

Elizabeth Banks does have to carry everyone else in this film & se does do a pretty good job of it, however some of the other cast member over acting was a bit too much especially someone mum.

Its okay i guess, it hits spot but it could of been so much more. At least it has helped me realise that i dont like horror just for the hell of it. Random jump scares, over the top violence & gore. It has made me realise psychological horror which makes you think is my bag. Not this.

Im sure others will enjoy this a hell of a lot more than i did. Its not a bad film no way, but there is much better horror out their in my opinion.
