Award Season time. Time to go & see Armageddon Time on a wet Tuesday afternoon while im off work on annual leave. Why not. If it gets nominated i will kick myself if i havent seen this so i feel i really should.

Time to guess how many people were in the cinema with me for this poorly promoted film. Correct just me. That always freaks me out a little. The cinema are losing money because im there & i pay in advance. Bless them. But hey dont put it on at 4:50pm on a tuesday

Trailers omg so many trailers, Opp, Babylon, Avatar, Matilda, Bones & All, The Infernal Machine, The Fablemans (first time ive seen that on the big screen) & the new whitney film. Yea they just kept coming & i was like is this to wait for someone else to turn up, nope. No one did.

& then the film started… So you know i watch a lot of films. I mean if your here you know that dont you. But i do watch a lot of film. I mean im so behind on my reviewing its crazy we will get there though. but i know what makes a film good be it for me or you & what makes people tick & what worthy of recognition…. this film is the most OSCAR BATE MOVIE IVE EVER SEEN! & its going to be nominated for nothing at all. & that pisses me off so much.

I know everyone loves Anthony Hopkins at the moment after the father & whenever hes in anything everyones like ahhh hes so good, but thats the only reason this films going to pick up any recognition.. But i wouldnt say his performance was outstanding, just average. but thats the only reason this is going to get any hype at all.

The kids in it are okay, but as someone whos watched a lot fo coming of age stories during awards seasons over the year, this just felt so forced & awkward at times. I didnt connect with the kids or any of the characters in the film at all actually. None of them i cared about there story or there reasons for what they did at all. I didnt cry or get emotionally involved at all.

Theres some very strong racism & domestic abuse in this film. Its hard to watch at points. Its not nice at all. But it would have been what happened & its just wrong & it also doesnt deal with mental illness in a good way, but yea in the 80s that would have been the case. None of those sections were enjoyable but werent entirely shocking.

Jessica Chastain turns up for all of 5minutes delivers a speech & then fucks off. WHY?!?! So random.

The stylising wasnt that good. I mean the bits that looked the most 80s were the bits on the sub way.

Do all kids get a shed club house or a lake now in films? Im starting to feel like i missed out as a kid. Please stop doing this Hollywood.

Yea i didnt enjoy this. The story was bland, & other than a few issues which have been addressed in films better before that arent award season worth, this is nothing to shout out about. It killed 2h of my time on a thursday, but if this wins anything major come February & March, i will eat my hat.
