Time for a friday night cinema trip & time to do the the film with possibly one of the smallest scripts ever. Yep A Quiet Place Day One time. ive been looking forward to this one a lot.
Half full cinema for this so im impressed well done people. I know horror isnt for everyone so thats good indeed. Mainly people my age which im now just kind of used to at this point. Clearly the really horror fans want the later showing.
Trailers, Long Legs, Trap, Maxxine, See Now Evil & Deadpool & wolverine. Im glad we are finally seeing the Deadpool trailer a lot more now, which is very very good.
Before the film starts i just want to ask… What happened to the policy of no pop corn in A Quiet Place films? Because there were a lot of people with big bags of popcorn or nachos. Erm nope your going to see a film that is all about sound. Dont bring them in.
& then the film started… ooooooohhhhhhhhhh this was special.
I cried. I mean you all know i love a good cry at a film, but i did cry at this. When she gets to a certain place in the film & its not there i felt that. & i would feel the same if the world was ending too. It was the goal of the film other than getting through the day & to not get that after everything bloody hurt.
It wasnt realistic… that cat didnt meow once. NO MEOWS AT ALL!!! The world was ending & yet the cat who didnt know it had to stay quiet was silent. Yea thats not happening.
I got scared a couple of times due to jumps & things that were set up for catastrophe. All those people walking to the river for safety, that petrified me so so much. I was just like oooh god what if their feet making noise adds to it.
It was really clever watching people work out how to survive & talk. Those kids hidden in the fountain was brilliant. They had no idea they were doing the right thing at all, but they were & it was so good that she was so nice to them.
The use of mid to late 00s stuff was cool, especially the ipod classic & Nano, i got home & put my classic on. They were the best things in the world i loved them. But im now worried im old as someone when i left the cinema was like oh my god ipods are so old… how dare you.
It was well paced, but i didnt really notice act 3 had started until that bit before the end & i was then like ahhh this is the end. It didnt feel like it was long or short, it was paced perfectly. Also to go from being so normal to then everything breaking & falling apart was so cool. She also went on 3 journey of denial & anger, fear & depression, & then finally relief & acceptance. It was a brilliant personal story against a horror background.
Seeing the aliens crash was cool. But the aliens are no longer scary, apart from that bit on the building site. I was genuinely trying to remember to breath as i watched it. That growl shook the cinema for sure.
Screaming & hitting stuff during the storm & the rain was incredible. Yes id do that too. It was the release they needed to have.
Now as a cinema in sussex when he said he was from Kent as a generic place we all just groaned. Give him a town for crying out loud. We dont say counties at all if we are from here. We say the closest town or city., unless that persons actually from there & then they go okay so where are you actually from. For example i say im from Brighton but if someone else say they are i then go oooh im from Worthing &then if they know that i then explain well its not even Worthing, its Lancing.
I like how he got her into the city because there was a show & a promise of pizza, i mean id go too.
I do love how no one is ever safe in these films, people can just get killed off for sneezing or sighing. It also really does show exactly what you would do to survive too & shows you who people really are.
Ive always thought there should be spin offs for this. So easy to see other cities & people & how they all cope with this world & being quiet. Im glad we are getting other peoples takes on these. If this is how this is going to go moving forward, im looking forward to it.
The right amount of suspense, the thing was perfectly cast & it left you feeling there was hope in the world & was true enough to the original movies that it doesnt just feel like it was a prequel for the sake of it. It worked & it is a golden buzzer contender for sure. This will stay with me for a little while for sure.
I had a friend who doesnt do horror who went to see this on the same day as me & she loved it. So i think that says a lot about the film.
