Time to wish there was no place like home & watch the Wizard of Oz, which i was certain i had review on here before, unless i had & it got lost in the move across from my last blog. Oh well. Time to watch this classic & get all nostalgic & mesmerised by it all once again.

This probably isnt going to be much of a review probably more of a love in.

Just imagine all those years ago going to the cinema & watching this for the first time & seeing it all in the sepia black & white & grey scale & that door opening & all that colour being on your screens. I hope anyone who did see that when this was revealed, did just have a bit of a moment & that the cinema did collectively hold its breath. Our equivalent is Steve Rogers hearing Sam whisper on your left & that first portal open (the Spiderman reveal was too spoiled to have that effect im sorry it was). But yea imagine all your films being black & white & then suddenly it was in colour. Must have been so magical.

There was a point a couple of years ago at home when mum asked my dad if he had a brain after something stupid had happened & i just stood there & sung all of the scarecrows song without interruption. They both looked at me stunned & went how do you know all of that word for word. My reply was its the wizard of oz doesnt everyone know the scarecrow part, i was greeted by a unison of no. That shocked me more that they didnt. Its not like its a film i watch often or was obsessed with as a kid, but if the thoughts youd be thinking you could be another Lincoln isnt in your head then you really do need a brain.

Ruby slippers are just so shiny & lush. They really are & they just glisten all the time.

I love that the actors in the real world play the people in oz too. Its brilliant. At the time again must have been like hang on wasnt that guy also that guy. I mean unless it was common practice for films to do that then (sorry i dont know enough about 1930s films) but it was good & it worked.

I can see why the wicked witch & those monkeys were so scary for people at the times & for kids years to come. Okay by the time i saw it as a child i wasnt scared. I was like ahhh that a bit odd isnt it, not scared.

The good witches werent that helpful were they. They helped with the poppies & then for the end but the rest of the time they caused as much trouble as they could without being evil.

Toto steals the show (thats usually something i say about F1 isnt it) hes such a well trained dog, hes brilliant.

The final showdown & taking on the witch & saving Dorothy is the highlight of the film. It really does prove they didnt need the gifts from the wizard they had it in them all along. Its so good too & is proper are they going to get away with it.

Witches dont melt, trust me i dont (all people being born on Halloween are deemed witches) imagine the issues id have trying to have a shower or in the rain.

The wizard really was incompetent wasnt he, to be exposed by a dog & a little girl, & then to fly off & leave them all behind, idiot. They really were simple if they let that man & his tricks rule them. However these are the same people who have a horse of every colour & also can die your eyes to match your gown.

The songs are all brilliant, every single one. Properly magical & fantastic & takes you back to being a child, no matter which generation you are. Its amazing & very heart warming.

Basically if youve not watched the wizard of oz get on it. Im not sure why you havent seen it. Its a classic & wonderful & will go on longer than all of us watching it & past the next generations to come.

There truly is no place like home.
