Hello lovely peoples of the internet. We all good? Thought so.
For those unaware blah blah(see last years post etc),this isn’t a film review. Nope, more a review of my last year & whats happened in my life over the last 12 months, & any shenanigans that may have occurred. Film Reviews will still appear in the next few days so cheers muchly for all your patience with this. We’ll get to the nitty gritty bits later on.
So 2018 what happened? Well, things did.
First off I’m well (i say that I’ve got this horrible cold that i just cant shift at the moment as i start typing this) but other than that i’m good. Jobs going well (bring on the Christmas party). We now have an office puppy. I say puppy, Hendrick is now 1 year & a month old, hes so sweet, hes got a cold too at the moment. I have new glasses & i’m not completely blind yet. So yeah i guess i’m good. Immediate family are all good too. Further out are all okay i guess. Obviously Grandparents are well getting older & may not always be 100%, but they are all doing the best they can. We all offer our support & help to them whenever we can but they are still good.
My cousin got married this year. It was a lush day it really was, so special. Just the look on Granddads face when he was given a button hole was just priceless bless him. Well done Hannah & Dan (& Boss the dog obviously).
Which brings me on to the fact that next year my sister is actually going to get married….. I know AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Seriously cant wait for it, its going to be an amazing day.
Had some Mini breaks this year. We went to Harry Potter Studio Tours, which was Epic, & Lincoln to see the imps, which was less Epic as it wasn’t the result we wanted but still bloody good fun. With friend, not family, i also went to Pompie for the night to go to a big kids adventure indoor playground, & of course the greatest showman singalong, we did all that together. We also have formed a quiz team, which don’t do very well, but we nail the news & link & specified film rounds at our local film quiz. We’re gutted we missed out on the jackpot a couple of weeks ago though. We also did our own quiz at our Christmas party (which i won sorry girls).
The main holiday this year was a girly week in Crete. Yay. Oh so much fun. Think i’m a little too old to go out & get that drunk every night, but kudos to Marvin The Monkey, the toy my friend brought out for a themed night who still goes around as our mascot. We did some proper Greek tourism too & went on a mountain safari with Goats & a bbq. Lots of fun, i’m still tanned now i think
I took up running in the summer (i say i run, i don’t, i jog {i say i jog, i do, i just walk when i go fuck me that hurts, but i walk so quickly there’s not much of a difference}) but i did. I decided to take on the race for life 5k for cancer & raised a staggering £342.50 plus £73.13 gift aid. Thank you so much if you donated. I now try(if i remember to set my alarm) to go & do Park Run each Saturday, i’m getting better each week. So by doing this is either making my ankle stronger or weaker not worked that out yet, but i now own size 14 stuff from next so i’m very happy about that.
Event wise well, 28.33mm. I think should start this don’t you. That was the difference in being relegated or staying up in the premiership for Brighton. Mamas Favourite moment of the season was Craig Pawson looking at his watch & pointing to the spot to say goal. My favourite moment from last season was when Dunk scored again Arsenal right in front of me, that was just so epic.
We also went on a family day trip to Wembley to watch Lincoln City play in the football league trophy, which they won (see family photos bellow of us in the rain). Never thought id cry singing the national anthem but i did. So proud the Imps had got all the way to Wembley & that after 21 years i was finally there myself watching football.
This year we finally got to see Sam Smith who was so worth the wait. Would go again tomorrow if you said i could. Also went to see the play that goes wrong which was epic & the ATP tour finals of course, team Novak for the win.
Not much else to report really. I’ve got a new Car. Bye bye Harrison, Hello Tom. Come on work out why they are called that. You know i’ve seen a ton of films so that’s no biggie.
2019 will continue to surprise as always, but there is a lot planned. Hen/Stag party & then a wedding. More premier league football. We have tickets to see Tim Minichin on his comedy comeback tour & me & some of my girls are going to go & see Hugh Jackmans concert at the O2, which is going to be a once in a life time opportunity. I’m going on a Cruise around the Fjords so that’s going to be epic. & there’s two big birthdays in our house ending in 0’s (and one of them is mine ekk). Will probably also get away for a holiday with Friends too.
So the real reason for this post is to tell you that again this year, i’m not sending out Christmas cards. I haven’t sent Christmas Cards for about the last 10 years now, mainly because its quite expensive, especially with postage, we’re all online & i try to see most people to wish them a Merry Christmas as well & if i cant i usually text or call them.(disclaimer yes this has been entirely copied & pasted this next paragraph from last year except for the year, so well done for noticing yay next paragraph isn’t though)
So instead of sending out cards i donate to Charity. This year i have donated to Albion in the Community. Before you go really, let me explain myself. My friend at work Katy, her husband Paul basically runs Albion in the Community, so i always hear exactly whats happening soon from her. The club are also so vocal about the charity section of the club & always do the best for it. They also have 1 game a season where they collect for the charity this year they got over £35k, which is epic. You also see them out & about quite a bit & they go to school which is really good to keep kids who need extra help a little bit more active.
But that’s not my reason for donating. There’s a guy called Jadey who is disabled, who is on the side of one of the busses in the town, who was one of the first people to be helped by Albion in the Community years ago. He is now an ambassador for the Charity & the football club & every now & then there will be a little video before kick off as to what hes been up-to or some other kids who need help, who have met him & go oh Jadey inspired me.
However his inspiration became unmatched this season. Earlier on i mentioned the victory from the Manchester United game we had. Indigo Calderon, proper Brighton legend, was meant to be on the pitch as a surprise guest before kick off (but Knocky ruined it as he put it on social media), but due to traffic he wasn’t there in time. So at half time they chatted to him & he got a big cheer & we listened to him & then they said oh & Jadey is here too & the cheer was deafening for him. It really was, & it just got louder & louder & you saw his confidence grow, & then he told us about how his helper had run the marathon in 3 hours for Albion in the Community & that he had done the equivalent 2 miles a day in his chair in the 2 weeks before the marathon & his over all time was 4h30mins & the entire ground stood up & started singing his name.
If that is what one person who has been touched by Albion in the Community can do & make 30000 people feel so proud, i’m not sure if their is a better cause out their. If you want to see what its all about here’s the link https://www.albioninthecommunity.org.uk/
You can all go back to watching House of Cards on Netflix or playing Red Dead Redemption 2, or crying at the new Avengers Endgame trailer now. Your duty of reading this is done. Thanks for reading this peoples, it is really appreciated & i hope you & your family have an amazing Christmas & i wish you all the best for 2019. Lets make some amazing memories next year people. I know its going to be brilliant. Lets try to get it to match 2018, i mean we’ve come a long long way together, haven’t we.
Love to you all
