Spoilers

Saturday film night & pops gets to pick ( i think after randomly being forced to watch Spice World the other day he is allowed to) so we are watching yesterday, the film about The Beatles, which isnt but is. God there was a lot of these last year… oh multiple films coming out about the same subject, how we didnt appreciate it. Oh hopefully cinemas will open come June & we can get back to normal. (Self note in editing now i wrote this intro in May 20 yeah… hmm…).

If youve not seen the film my main point of this review is to just speak passionately about a couple of bits of the film that really effected me when i saw it in the Cinema & then when i saw it again now, which are big spoilers, & made me cry.

Obviously the world doesnt remember the fab 4, but a few do. So when Jack is on that roof singing help! its not just him singing help & getting the adoration, he wants out right there & then & needs all the emotional support he can get. & then the two fans that come in afterwards who remember & you think oh god are they going to give him up & tell everyone about him & they are just so happy to have the music back in their lives, that really hits a nerve. Music can do that to people, one little note can put you straight back in a place or moment or with someone & everythign just seems right & it is so lovely that they are just so happy for him & that people still hear the music. That makes me well up.

BIG SPOILER NOW IF YOUVE NOT SEEN THIS LIKE THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE….

YOU WERE WARNED

& then he gets in the car & goes to meet John Lennon & i fall apart. Im actually sitting here welling up about it if im honest. John Lennon died before i was born. He has always been apart of history to me & hes been so influential. & then to see him there being happy living a normal day everyday life just going im happy with where i am what are you doing here mate, is one of the nicest things caught on cinema in the last couple of year. It makes me smile to think what might of been & if he had lived would he still be going now or would he have just retired & lived happily in new york. Its just so fitting & perfect, that he got to live his life.

Okay im done with what i really did want ot get off my chest & just type about so now for a bit more.

Its an okay RomCom, you get the jokes more if your British defiantly.

I still cant get my head around that its Himesh Patel, the kid from eastenders. What am i gonna be like in a few weeks when hes in Tenet…

I love that Ed Sheeran is just Ed Sheeran, thats amazing, it really is. & the fact they just kinda take the piss out of him & the music business.

I love that he wears his festival tshirt which he was so proud of to appear at wembley thats such a British thing to do. To have your Wembley moment…. some of you wont get that i know.

I dont like how the glitch isnt actually really explained & how it effects some things but not others & the same with people. Its a mcguffin we all just accept for the plot.

Rocky is the best character in the film, hes got the best lives & is the best, he really is.

I know the point is to show how fame isnt all its cracked up to be & that people turn into dicks when they are famous, but i felt that as much as we were making the records & doing that we did spend a little bit too long looking at that.

I also know that because they didnt exist, there is no penny lane, strawberry fields etc in the film. But you know a bit more of a tour of liverpool would of been nice. I understand he has to realise hes in Love in liverpool but cant have her, but a bit more of a history trip would be really good peoples. Come on Richard & Danny surly you know that we want this more than a conversation about changing Jude to Dude.

It is a good film & it is something that you put on in the back ground once youve seen it a few times & smile at it being on tv, but its not Boyle or Curtis best work. Its a very good way of doing the music biopic without it being one if you get me. But i think we needed more of a Beatles history lesson than we got.
