This has looked gripping for ages & ages I’m so looking forward to this the trailer looks cool the posters look cool sign me up…
Then in came the rotten tomatoes reviews 28% hmmmm usually I try to ignore the tomatoes until I see the film or book it up but this low score just went everywhere, but hay I’m still sitting in screen one at the Odeon on a wet Wednesday night & iv purchased dinner as it’s going to be a late one. It had better at least be 40% to make it worth while.
Its pretty full actually in here id even go as far as saying half full. Which considering the reviews is pretty good.
Trailers, we had the death of Stalin, looks so weird & funny but so Iannucci, slowly being sold to see that, than it was orient express still looks good that doesn’t need to be sold to me any more, then its breath & the then i cant remember the last one… oh yes i can it was suburb icon. Matt Damon looks so weird & not my kinda film so much so that i really want to see it.
Now i’ve not read the book, so didnt really have much to go off before i saw it but brilliant clue posters everywhere & a gripping trailer & of course all those reviews before hand.. & i actually really enjoyed it & through it was very clever & a very good show.
Fassbender is slowly finding his niche, anything he stars in will be better than assassins creed, but i believed him in this i felt for his character through out & was desperate for him to work it all out.
Rebecca Ferguson was good but every time her character got interesting she gave an ok performance then when it was a dull bit was on fire. Sort it out love get it the correct way round.
I liked the flash backs that was cool, very cool Val Kilmers face though oh my good. Dont know why hollywood & American films under use Toby Jones, use him more please people he is classy & you dont even realise what you have got there.
I didnt get it right at all at any point as to who it was doing the killing i guessed everyone fucking else except the person who it was & then just though oh shit no no no why didnt you think of that love of course it was him they gave you all the sodding clues. argh so angry at myself, but then i wanted to see if it was all going to be doom & gloom at the end.
Ending was a little bit shit & very abrupt i was waiting for a resolving speech & someone being all so how do you feel nah didnt get that they just all moved on no investigation into why the last 15 mins of the film happened. Fasbender get into films with better endings please.
There was enough horror & suspense & gore for the correct audience some of it was grim but it was needed it was really well filmed too.
Unlike Assassins the ending didnt ruin the film i came out of it going how does that only deserve 28 tomatoes. Maybe it is different to the book, but i really liked it. It like thats getting me ready for the orient express to work out who its going to be. A good guess who suspense this. If thats your cuppa tea at least watch it on sky cinema next year people.
