This only came out 2 weeks ago so i wont be spoiling this. Cinema Club style peoples. A Re-watch will happen tho.
So i am meant to be at the cinema right now, watching She Said. But im not. I got to the Marina & it was closed by police both the entrance & exit ramps & the bomb squad was there. Dont worry have since found out there was no bomb & that someone was threating to jump off one of the two ramps & kill themselves. The bomb people were there as negotiators or in case they had a back up plan. So yea i couldnt get in, so i wont be seeing She Said now probably. So i’ve got home & i still want to concentrate on a film so ive put on The Wonder. Cant go wrong with a bit of Florence right?
This is actually hard to talk about without spoiling it. Its very intense & full on. When we were in Act 3 i was like hang on thats early & i paused netflix & it was like 90min in. WHAT! I know it said to immerse yourself in it but wow. I was fully engrossed in this film & was good.
I normally do like period dramas, but i think because they were so normal people if you get me, no one was upperty, no one was really a villain, it just felt right & much more natural to watch. The story did feel like it was in the past at times, but that could have been put in ay setting & still worked.
Once youve seen it come talk to me about the opening & closing scene, which i do get, but with the rest of it & not many to other references to it, felt very weird & odd. Why start like that & then not pick it up to the end.
Florence was amazing as usual. Seriously is there anything this woman cant do. She was so normal & just genuinely cared & was kind & did everything she could to prove a point.
All those huge name actors around that table, bloody hell. All of them hired for what was probably 10mins each (apart from Toby Jones) wow. I mean it worked as whenever she went to the Watch i felt very very stressed.
The girl was amazing, i mean she didnt have to do too much (literally) but she still had to get that right & there were a few very uncomfortable moments that she dealt with so well & it was brilliant.
Some lush cinematography & country walk scenes in this film. Really did make you feel immersed in this world & believe what you were watching.
For a period drama i really enjoyed it, there were bits i didnt like for sure, but the feel & the structure & the story telling of the film was immense. Its well worth a watch whoever you are. I mean this isnt my cuppa tea at all (other than Florence) & i was entranced by it sitting on the edge of my chair going yea this is bloody good.
