Spoilers

although i actually doubt that if im honest. Its not got a good Tomato or Letterboxd rating this film, so im not holding out much hope. But it is a Collin Farrell film so im hopeful that he will at least knock it out of the park as per.

You know what my initial thoughts about not looking forward to this film were wrong. It was atrocious. I think if theyd have put Tom Hanks & Angelina Jolie in this film i would have fallen apart it was just so so so bad. & i usually try & stay upbeat in my write ups but oh god. Im not sure if this is going to be a short review due to my anger or really long as i rant… lets see shall we.

I’ll get the good bit out of the way first. The fight at the hotel in the end that was good you really didnt know which way it was going to go. It was gritty & all the punches were pulled & you just sat there thinking yes we will get more of a show down & its going to get twistyer, but that was the highlight of the film.

The other good bit of the film was the start when she does that first kill & you think oh were going to get something very edgy & very cool & different & you though yea strong start film & then thats all undone by the rest of it.

John Malkovich fishing that was fun too.

Right problems….

the pace of the film. Even though we had a few action scenes throughout the film it just went at an awfully slow build. I was sitting here thinking are we gonna get going. & then it got going a bit & then we have the big fight & you just think yes were going to build from that yes yes yes & then its lingers a bit for like 10mins & then it ends & its just oh man really that was all we got. Maybe that why that last fight is good as not much has happened in the 40mins before it.

I did not need a love triangle with her her sister & the ex. & then his gambling. It all felt fake & force & there was no chemistry between any of them. There was more chemistry between there mum & the tv in her hospital then there was anyone else in this film.

How many times did they say the word Boston? 10 times in 1 90min film thats once every 9 minutes.

We needed to know more about all of their pasts not just AVAs in that montage at the start of the film as the credits appeared. We needed to know about how they set this up who else was involved which person caught her out last time. We never learnt enough about any of them to care about their collective fates.

No way would she have got out of that hotel well either of them if im honest in either of those two states. the first one in that dress with all that stuff no way. & then all beaten up in the last one nah. Also why did the fire alarm go off, they didnt set her hotel room on fire in the fight. Was there a fire going on else where.

Why does Hollywood want to tell you someones an ex alcoholic all the time in the film. say it once, & then when they hit the bottle later on & fall of the rails then it feels more real. But yeah the mini bar looks, going & ordering that drink, her sister drinking hers (which was bad if she was pregnant by the way). It was just like we know shes gonna start drinking at the wrong time film we get it.

No one ever argues when she doesnt actually say what her job is or question it.

That club & card people were odd & were a 20min distraction the film didnt need.

Okay im angry now im going to stop writing. Basically watch the opening of the film until the montage ends, that fast forward an hour & watch the last 15 mins & thats all you need to see. The rest of it is a waste of time & not even Collin Farrell could save it. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Rant Over, normality & calm will now resume.
