Spoilers???
Nah im going to say no because i am right now going to write the word AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
& thats my reivew….
nah i need to type more dont i
So this was on my wish list for 2020, before the word covid was even said outload, it then got moved to disney plus & i was like okay i will get around to it, its then got panned & i was like well it cant be that bad. Last night i had the energy to be blown away by it & get into it & give it the benefit of the doubt.
The only reason to watch this film, is due to Collin Farrell being in a ripped suit looking all suave with his true irish accent. Otherwise there is no point to watch this film.
Rules only apply when certain things happen & its just like okay so for the last 20mins youve said nope we cant do that but now its okay, the hell.
Josh Gad’s narration was consistent, but it wasnt like Olaf telling his stories was it nope no no. I mean if youve got a guy whos iconic about recapping & telling a story dont make him do it boringly.
I was all invested in the McGuffin, i really was. I was wondering where it was & what it would do & how it could save them or why someone would die for it & then when it was revealed it was a fucking Magical Acorn… i think i yelled out loud oh for fuck sake. & then no human could use it but a fairy could but it could help humans & you can swallow it & it still work & glow inside. Also could it only be used once. I needed to know more about this Acorn but nah no extra information was given.
Trolls as a battering ram okay yea thats cool, but surely if youve stopped all magic in the house he wont be able to eat or hurt anyone as thats a troll skill.
Why are we introduced to the fairy world about 20misn in & given such an in-depth knowledge of stuff we dont actually need to know about thats not relevant again throughout the film. Important stuff like their time freeze how they developed there tech & why certain relationships are needed would have been more important at this point.
The child actors in this arent that good. I mean yes they are kids, but come on its not JoJo & Yorkie or the kids in Paddington. I dont like to dis child actors but still.
We all have a cage built to trap people in our kitchens dont we.
of course the themes estuary gate has a floating prison or holding cell in it.
The wedding was weird. I mean if they had shown us that instead of the fairy introduction, that would have been a better introduction to them as then wed have been like ah different fairys, not the usual or even Ja Ja Ding Dong ones. Also they can bring people back from the dead… bollocks
So we set up a villain whos never revealed or really explained & im guessing thats for the sequel that will never happen.
No characters have any relationship or chemistry other than Gad & Dench negotiating but other than that nothing at all.
Why do all Irish houses in big hollywood films have to be near the sea & have to have a storm & waves? Its not always like that films nope. Its like snow in london.
Oh it just made me Angry & im going to stop typing before i punch my lap top. Kenneth, we know you can make better film than this. Please do so very very quickly. Im glad ive typed this up so quickly i can forget this film ever existed.
