This film has a lot to answer for really, this was the film that started all of this in theory. I went to see it with a friend at the dome, & cried when the parents all died as i had just gone through a family bereavement & then wanted to say what i felt about the whole film but couldnt get the words out so started writing notes. 5 days later i started this blog… & now here we are 2 years later.

So we call no the story of Cinderella right girls parents die, evil step mum, fairy god mother, magic, prince, midnight, shoe, happy ever after etc. So really no spoilers here.

Lilly James is a brilliant Cinderella she really is she can sing she can dance she is beautiful & looks depressed & sad so well. One issue even though she has some wealth she is to posh & not normal enough to be her. Im sorry but its true. Especially when you’ve got Richard Madden playing the prince, whos a little too normal for all our liking. He should be Cinderella, not here it should be the other way round. Thats not to say hes bad in this film, hes solid hes not quite leading man material yet though. I mean hes hot & you wouldnt say know but there are more male romantic leads out there of his age than him.

Cate Blanchett does steal the show though as a a villain, which is a bit odd to confess. She should just be quietly knocking around in the back ground but she rocks it she really really really does. Why do i keep wanting the bad guys to win at the moment what the hell is wrong with me. I guess its more fun to play the bad guy.

Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy God Mother is good, but doesnt cause enough mischief in her 2 minutes on screen yes she narrates, but if you got Helena playing her, use her a little more please, especially if shes going to die her hair blonde.

An excellent supporting cast to them all as well, including Rob Brydon doing his painting hehe What a painting.

Im glad there wasnt as much mindless singing & when there was by the step sisters they were all told to shut up which was brilliant. Good comic timing we were all thinking the same.

The ball room scene when everyone’s entered & she then turns up in her Blue, is brilliant. Just the oh wow look on her face. & it also comes with the best line of the whole film. Everyone’s looking at you… no trust me everyone’s looking at you. What a line brilliant beautiful everyone wants someone to say that to them(oh god im going all mushy help). The dance was nice too well choreographed Disney. But how noone really noticed it was her still baffles me.

How big was his Garden & how slow was that clock chiming that meant she basically nearly got home by the time she was back to rags.

Its a good Disney re-make im glad they did it, but knowing Kenneth Branagh was directing it i did expect a little bit more from it, to make it darker. Im still glad i own it & it will always have a special place in my heart due to when i actually went to see it.
