Sunday Night cinema feels good for me. Ive got a very busy week so i either see this today or Thursday so its got to be now. I need Thursday as a just in case films dont have the correct times for the following week gap. So a bit of Tom Hardy & his Parasite is exactly what the doctor ordered.
Bond has saved Cinema not just for the fact that hes still sold out for the next few days 3 weeks in, nope, because Venom is all but sold out too. Seriously almost every seat had someone in at the cinema (expect the one to my left & my right… was it something i said {stop quoting Ben wrong marvel universe)…. but yea other wise full. Id say most people were late 20s to 50s wasnt many people there older than that. So basically everyone who likes a bit of super hero & horror & adores Tom Hardy.
Trailers, new Spider Man (yes) Morbious (havent seen that in a while since its continued delay {yes}) Eternals (yes) & Dune (yes once my dad picks a day). So yeah that was all very very good. Proper know your target audience all of that, good on them.
& then the film started… & it delivers on exactly what you want it too & as the credits started i was very happy with what i had seen (we will get to that)…
Tom Hardy always delivers even in the crap Capone film i saw earlier this year, it was atrocious but he was doing the best he could to save it which is why i gave it half a star. But him as Eddie & Venom is brilliant. Their Bromance is so perfect, it really is the odd couple & when they fall out you feel sad & when they are on the same page you are so happy. I love them both.
Venoms stand out moment is his empowerment speech at the nightclub. I bloody loved that, it was funny awkward & the correct thing for him to do & i just loved every second of it. That was the highlight of the film.
Thats not to say that some of the fights were good they were epic, The Jail, the cathedral & inner fights. All fantastic. I mean theres a Matrix 4 Easter egg in there too, once your done watching it we will chat about it.
The film does just get on with it, & at no point do you feel like your watching something short, until the end of the last fight & then you go oh really this is it argh. Maybe another 10minutes would have been good to give more meaning to Woody & Naomi’s relationship (both were great & brought it) but a bit more to their characters would have helped.
Unsung Hero is Dan. Bloody loved that he didnt turn up until there was 20mins to go & then he was so bloody helpful despite the fact he wanted nothing to do with it. I Bloody Love Dan! Justice for Dan or for him to be in more of Venom.
Those bloody chicken & the breakfast, i laughed a lot at those chickens.
Stephen Graham was a nice addition to the film as the policeman & obviously if they do make more will be important going forward. He did his job but again there will be more of him next time.
Good Jokes that worked, along with bad joke, & dad jokes that also worked. I mean because they are idiots it makes sense that venom would be more of a twat than Eddie. I mean the drawing skill was wonderful as well, but Venoms humour covered all comedy types.
So theres one credit scene, its a mid credit scene, which we all knew there was just one. & the noise…. the noise in the cinema was up there with some of the Endgame reveals. Oh My Fucking God……….. & thats all i can say really ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh SHIT IS GOING TO GO DOWN!!!! See the film for the film but dont leave promise me you wont be like the 17 idiots in my screening who left before it. I really didnt see that coming, you always hope but nah thats changed the game.
The jump scares werent that many, but still did make you go woooo at.
Its a bloody good grab your popcorn & enjoy the film that knows what it is & doesnt take itself to seriously movie. I really had fun & was going to leave happy & then had so many questions for whats to come. Its good, its pretty darn good.
