Well Top Gun Maverick now has company as the film ive watched the most at the cinema, Yep its time for round 4 of the Wild Robot, last years buzzer winner & the 3rd different format for it. Yes its screen x weekend which means 270c of screens. So im here early on a sunday morning to cry uncontrollably.
You know what for 10:10 for a film thats a year old, im impressed. Half full. Someone was in the seat next to me so i couldnt put my fink in it. But it was mainly families with their kids. There was one other couple & an odd one without kids in it.
Thanks screen x fest minimal adverts & trailers. A Paw patrol one, wicked & finally zootopia.
& then the film started… yea you know how this is going dont you… & if you want my other wild robot review they are here & here.
Sitting in that screen with all those other screens around you & the scored that moves & watching that forest grow, was astounding, goosebumps so many goosebumps. Even at the start with the typhon happens, its so clever The butterfly scene really got me this time that made me feel a lot & so did the flying to attack the ship. Id say its the most ive seen the side screens used in screen x so far & im now glad ive seen it like that. I know its not IMAX but ive done that, & that was magical.
As always i cried. I started crying when his flight training started this time. It was wonderful & i cried so so hard at the migration, i think i always will. I like flow, i get why it won but any other year the Wild Robot would have won that oscar over half of the meh stuff disney puts out. It just, its so so much.
I felt cold watching the snow rescue & seeing all those animals in the hut moving around you on screen x that was rather cool.
Am i going to have much to say when i watch this on bluray in a couple of weeks time, probably not. But you can betcha i will write for hours about it, because well 4 cinema trips to see it, thats practically an essay as well. Its so deserving of last years golden buzzer.
I was also thinking today could be the day to pass on the button of film of the year, but no… we still got one of the top 5 to go… will this year be the perfect Golden cinema year….
